Hi everyone
My friend sent me this link to a video showing the importance of the initial skin to skin contact. It's pretty amazing though I don't know how likely it is that the hospital has the luxury of leaving you there together for the 30-60 minutes they think it takes for the baby to crawl itself to the breast!
Interesting little video though . . . .

That brought back a lot of memories, has made me emotional.

They did that with me when I had Seren, OH placed her on my chest and after a while she began rooting round, though towards the end it was suggested I moved her into the correct position. She had her first feed at 10 minutes. Most hospitals would let you have the time, ask your midwife. Most are pro breastfeeding so put baby straight on your chest as this is recognised to be the most effective start to breastfeeding.

Thanks for posting that :)

That's incredible! I may look into giving that a go next time.

Great vid, and proves the need for skin to skin contact to initiate successful BF.

That's amazing!

Was anyone else watching and going 'Go on, GO ON!!......'

I'd love to try that next time, I wasn't even allowed to hold Stanley for about half and hour :(

wow - that is one clever baby!

How many people were at the birth though.... must have been about 30!!

That was what my delivery looked like

If you end up with an assisted or C-section it's not far off

wow cool that was awesome to watch :) ty

do they do that here? or do they latch baby on breast here

This happened with Sam, It was magic. It took him about 20 mins and he latched on all by himself.
Makes me all jelly-like remembering it!

thanks for that link, i tried breast feeding last time, but did not do it very well. and i had lost my confidence to try again, but that video has made me want to do it again, and to start that way.

soo amazing seeing baby looking for food.
