Well I'm 18 weeks today and I am pretty certain for the last few days I've been getting braxton hicks, surely it's too early?! I think I had them quite early on with my daughter but can't remember exactly when they started. It's just like my uterus tightens for like 30 secs maybe less actually then eases off, just makes my tummy incredibly tight and then seems to go back to normal. This is my third baby and I only had my son almost three months before I fell pregnant again so maybe it has something to do with that.

Do you think I need to mention it to MW?

I'm having them too and I got worried googled it and found that the can start anytime after tri 1. its my 3rd baby too so maybe we r more sensertive to them or just know what they are !!! I wouldnt worry unless they start getting painfull or regular but if u r worried wouldnt hurt to mention it to mw xxx

Thanks girls, put my mind at rest! I drank lots more water yesterday and it seemed to help. Didn't notice any after that. Sounds like it's perfectly normal though :)

This is my first pregnancy and am just over 16 weeks, and i got them today!! Scared the crap out of me!! Checked it out and apparantly you can get them at any time. I seriously was terrified. My poor husband--we were driving at the time and he was a bit freaked, too. Called a friend who has had 4 kids and she knew what it was immediately. Said they are a front squeeze and that labour is more of a back squeeze. For her anyway. Thinking about it, it seems kind of cute that my body is 'prepping for the exam' so to speak. Just kinda wish i had had a head's up (that you can get them at any time). Sigh. Yet another thing my midwife totally neglected to mention.

Ooh I've had them too! This is my first baby and I'm only 17 weeks. A definite, sustained tightening in the front of my belly that lasted about 15 secs. Freaky!

think i'm now feeling them. tummy keeps going really really tight, doesn't hurt, but is really uncomfortable.
