I think i am going to plan to bottle feed for various personal reasons which myself and hubby have talked about. I have no idea what i will need, what products will be best and what and how we even go about everything. (Family memebers have all been breast feeding Mums and don't really want to ask advice from them, as i know they will be telling me to breastfeed and i don't want the pressure, so just as easy to say i can't when baby arrives.)

So all advice with open arms is welcome please, right from how to make feeds up, to the equipment we are going to need. e.g. what teats at what age, how may teats and bottles. It all seems to be a mind fields, and the basic information is required, please. :oooo:

As there is some good deals on at the moment if i have an idea on the equipment i need then maybe we can get some good bargins  . Mammas and Papas being one of the places that have an offer with this set, would this set below be a good place to start??

Hi :) iv only been bottle feeding for 2 weeks so dont reckon ill have much good advice as still really learning myself!

what i ould say though (might not be the same for your LO) is try the cow and gate as that seems the best for my baby. I tried aptimil at first and it made him really sick and iv heard a few other mums says the same but i have had no problems with cow and gate and his eyes fair light up when he sees it coming!

good luck x

i used sma and will this time too and im using avent bottles because of the anti collick the best advice i was given was in hosp when having my dd at not heating babys bottles up and she had room temp ones from the start for night time feeds its a godsend not having to faff around and have some infacol or simular in ready as bottle fed babys get very windy!

me and OH were completly baffled when we went to buy our stuff!!! It took 3 trips to mothercare and various conversations with friends and family about makes of bottles before we decided. TBH i think most bottle makes are well established but its what you find works. We had alot of recommendations for the Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottles and thats what we have gone for along with the steriliser and spare bits etc!! We have got 12 bottles in total i think..... that way we can have 6 kept at home with the ones that we would take out for the day/ evening and spares incase we leave some somewhere and won't need to panic!!

Both my girls were bottlefeed cow and gate, Lyssia had Advent bottles and Kelci had mothercare ones, but this time round ive gone for the same as you've posted as i want to breastfeed and ive been told they are best for when switching,

Making bottles up has changed slightly since my girls, i used to make the bottles and store them in the fridge and heat them up in a jug of water when needed, but one friend recently got told just to do the boiled water and have the milk in a storage tub and add when needed.

You fill the kettle up boil it, let it cool down so its warm, add the water to the bottle, if your making a 5 oz bottle up you add 5 scoops of milk to the water, the scoops are normally in with the tub of milk, use a knife to scrap over the scoop so its just a scoop and you get the same amount every time then

Hope ive helped :)
