Hi ladies, I had bloods done last week to check everything and see if I had PCOS, we phoned up yesterday and they've asked us to come in for a double appointment which we've booked for next week.

The results came back all normal! I wasn't expecting that AT ALL, purely because of my ovulation tests, I had expected my LH or FSH to come back a bit abnormal but my body has surprised me yet again and everything's normal!

I'm CD 86 today and still absolutely NOTHING in the way of AF, so feeling a bit antsy and wondering whether to take Agnus Castus again to kick start my cycle... But then part of me thinks I should wait until we see the GP incase there's any other tests she wants to do before I start a new cycle - by then I'll be CD90 something as well..

No idea what tests will come next so if anyone has any experience/advice, then it's greatly appreciated and welcomed!

omg thats crazy! i thot u had PCOS aswell, thats good news tho chick! youve waited this long i wud wait to see gp, if u take AC theyll push u back to the end of the queue!!

cud u have 'absent' periods but still be oving?? sorry if thats a dumb question! xxx

I have absolutely no idea.

I know some ladies on here had normal blood results and it took a scan to reveal they had PCOS, so maybe that's the next step? My last GP did a scan and all he said was there were mild follicles - he wouldn't confirm PCOS or do further tests to confirm either so perhaps it will show up on a scan?

Just a bit miffed we still don't know anything really!

So it was your LH/FSH bloods that you had done? I don't think they'd indicate PCOS anyway.

All those ones indicate is that your body is trying to produce follicles normally, not whether or not it is succeeding.

I think progesterone would be more suggestive but the timing has to be spot on. Have you had those ones done too? The only way to really know if you have PCOS or not is to have an ultrasound and have your ovaries looked at.

At least it's something you can tick off :)

No, the bloods checked prolactin, glucose, thyroid, liver, fsh, lh...I'm sure some other stuff too but can't remember.

I don't think I've had progesterone - is that the CD21 bloods? I've never had those done either.

x

Yeah, PCOS is basically your follicles failing to release an egg properly and therefore your progesterone level doesn't rise and your period goes wonky.

The blood test you had done was more like a test to see if it could be something else besides PCOS, not a test to detect PCOS.

So your tyroid being normal is good. Also you aren't premenopausal.

There are a couple of PCOS related hormones in there, but they don't occur in everyone with PCOS.

Does you doctor not have any suggestions as to what else may be causing your symptoms besides PCOS?

Hun as I suspected its the same as my case - all my blood tests are normal yet I didnt have periods for 90 days and only after taking progesterone it would bring the period on.

I was supposed to go in for HSG and start clomid buf fell PG by myself. Its good you have another apppointment, do push to be referred to the infertility clinic (I know it doesnt sound great) but they will rule out tube blockage/uterine problems and can then prescribe you clomid.

Please feel free to PM me as I have been in your situation before - had numerous tests and nobody could give me an answer as to why I had problems. xxx

Thanks ladies. x x

Louise - Balls, I thought it was to check for pcos! :dohh: The GP said it would flag any signs of PCOS as well. We didn't discuss everything we've been through in TTC in our first appointment as we didn't have time, that's why we have the double appointment booked, so from our first appointment, all she could offer was the blood tests til we met her again and told her more so she could do more for us. x

Thanks Knopk - I may just take you up on that! What did the GP do for you after your bloods came back normal? We might get referred next week - will have to wait and see what happens. :) x

Great news about getting the all clear on your blood results, but it must be so frustrating still not knowing what is causing your long cycles.

My frst lot of blood results came back fairly normal was just a bit low on my thyroid, it wasnt until I had the scan that pcos was diagnosed.

I think you should ask your doctor about being referred to a fertility specialist they should def get you the answers you need x

Hugs darling xxx I really think you will get referred though... I hope at your next app you get more answers xxxxxxxx

Gosh , yeah my blood tests came back normal and it was only when i complained of a sharp satbbing pain occasionaly after intercourse that i got referred for a scan and this confirmed pcos x

Thank you everyone. I'm really excited about telling my GP *everything* as I think I will definitely be referred, just itching to be seen by GP again! I'm so, so happy that we moved doctors as well, I feel like a massive weight has been lifted. :)

Hiya, your blood tests sound a little bit like mine...I had them done on CD3 and the GP only saw slightly higher levels of testosterone to find the PCOS, like someone else had put further up you can have it mildly and have normal (ish) levels. Also, what they consider 'normal' is quite a big range. Either way, your results are great though as they don't show anything 'abnormal' by the sound of it. Sounds like you might need something to kick start AF though xxxx

Thanks Sarah. Think I had the bloods done on CD79 though so maybe they should have been done earlier in the cycle or something.

Roll on next week, can't wait to get cracking. x x

Oh, I forgot about that part.... I'd say hopefully they can advise what to have tested next but if they're anything like my GP's you'll have to tell them! Hopefully you get referred to specialist asap.

I know, the waiting is annoying isn't it? I really hope you get some answers (and af!) soon xxxxxx

Thank you Sarah. :) x

By the time I see her again, I'll be CD90 something as well so definitely going to mention it.
