My little boy is nearly 11 weeks old and has had a pink fleshy bit hanging out of his tummy button since the cord fell off. It weeps green/yellow and needs cleaning regularly and some drops to stop infection. The pediatrician said it's ok and to keep up cleaning it but this morning it has started to bleed. I can't get him to docs until monday am.
Has anyone had this or know more about it?

 not to sure on how to advise u hun but didnt want to read and run...could u not tell the docs its an emergency or take his to the hospital to get it checked ? it sounds infected to me .

im sorry i cant advise u further

leahs bled for a couple of days when the cord fell off and midwife said it was normal... and even now there's still some crusty bits but health visitor said its healed well and its all normal.. but not sure if it should still be happening at 11 weeks?

charlote had the same.. she had a ambilical hernia the flap of skin that goes over didnt go.. we had some antibacterial powder to dry it and try to get it to heal shes got a tinsy bump in the middle of her button now.. looks sorta like a wart i suppose

It sounds like what Aimee had when she was younger, its was a umbilical granuloma. She had a big pink lump sticking out of her belly button and it kept getting all sticky and needed regular cleaning. It would bulge out everytime she cried. Nobody seemed to know what it was till the HV sent me back to the GP for a 3rd time and he gave me a silver nitrate stick to dry it out. I never used it though, it really scared me using it on her skin. I used salt water, well more of a paste instead and it went after a couple of days.
