So have you got/use a birthing ball? Just being nosey :D I've been bouncing and grooving on mine for a few weeks now, its so much easier getting off a ball than trying to hoist myself out of a chair

the dog ate my first one so dnt use second one much cos the dog jst sits n waits for me to get of :rotfl:

Tegala you make me laugh so much :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I want one cos baby is back to back but don't want to order one of the net cos no guarantee of how long it will take to come. Anyone know any shops that stock them?

I'm in the process of ordering one :)

Been holding off as MW said not to bother using it before 30 weeks and then for postiion of baby in the last few weeks. So didn't bother before now.

From what I've heard, they can have good results. Not sure if thats down to specific ways of using them or what, but it has to be worth a bounce

Getting on to your hands and knees a few times a day might help the back to back situation. My MW recommended it and said to rock backwards and forwards also. Spend 15 minutes plus a few times a day to encourage baby to turn. Some women have spent longer  But am told it does usually work. I find 20 minutes or so takes the pressure off me and LO starts to move.

The birthing ball site says it delivers within 2-3 working days, so I'd give them a try and order online.

Argos do gym balls a bit cheaper. Not sure if they are the same thing or sizes etc.

I got mine from Argos. They do a 65cm gym ball and a 75cm gym ball. Apparently you should get 65cm if you're 5'8 or less or 75cm if you're 5'8 or above. I'm 5'8 so I decided to get the 65cm one as it would take up less room. It cost £8.99 and you can blow it up with a bicycle pump.
I have a birthing ball that someone gave me but it is too small for me. It is exactly the same as the gym ball (except one's pastel blue, the other black) so don't feel you need to spend extra for a birthing ball.

It is the comfiest way to sit now. And it's loads of fun!!!! It's like a space hopper without handles :D But you have to beware of that lack of handles - sometimes I nearly fall off because I bounce so much :rotfl: I recommend hooking one foot (or two) under the sofa, that way you don't fall off if you bounce too enthusiastically! :D

I have got a gym ball that i have been using to help with my SPD. Its great fun.

Yep, been using mine a few weeks now and love it!

Sherlock - been on my hands and knees rocking, but can't last too long and then feel worse when I get up  Thinking the ball might help with the support side of things.

Kalia - gonna go and have a look at the argos site now :D

 I just had a look on Tesco sight as thats where I got my gym ball - its anti burst 65cm ..

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-2216.aspx

I just read on features and it says NOT SUITABLE FOR WHEN PREGNANT  why do you think it says that?! Max weight is 100kg and Im not near that

ETA: I think it is to do with weight, on the birthing ball sight it says their balls take up to 300kg - Im weighing 73kg so I got a way to go before I worry about popping it :)

I don't have one and don't have the space either :(

I would think that the makers don't want to be open to possible lawsuits from use during pregnancy so cover themselves with that notice. Although it claims its anti burst, if it does go, maybe it goes with a bit of a bang? I'm not sure if they are lesser quality to those that claim to be 'birthing balls' and are sold only as such. The Birth Ball site states about its product the following

The Birth-ease Ball is manufactured in Italy by Birth Ball specialists.
It's anti-burst construction means that should the ball get punctured whilst you are sitting on it, it will deflate gradually to prevent you and your baby from injury.

The Birth-ease Birth Ball is a premium quality birthing ball, tested to the strictest standards up to 300kgs in weight and its non-slip surface gives extra stability and adherence to the floor. For safety, we would advise pregnant women against the use of birthing ball covers.

That would be my guess anyways. Its not been tested for use by PG women only for non PG use so they cover themselves should anything happen while a PG woman uses it.

Hope that makes sense :) And not wanting to worry anyone who has a Tesco or other gym ball. This is all what I am guessing at based on the specifically marketed and tested as such birth ball info.

You can get pumps for them, so you can pump it up when you need it. Bit of a pain maybe but if you really want to try one, you can always give it a go and store it away flat after. I'm sure it won't take hours to pump up. Least I hope not :?

Yeah I did think of that but tbh it takes me to put my pjs on when I get home nevermind fart about with that

I might get one when I finish work (which at the moment couldn't come any quicker!)

Jesus I bet I pop it with my fat ass! OH just said he is gonna buy me another one suitable for the more hefty preggo bottom

lol awww don't worry too much  As I said, that would be my interpretation on it is all. I don't want to send women into a panic over using a gym ball :?

If your OH is going to treat you, this site is the one I went to and am using. I was going to get a plain gym ball also but when I found that site and it said it comes with instructions for positions etc, I figured I'd spend the extra and order one from there. I live rural so getting into Tesco or Argos isn't happening and ordering one online doesn't save masses on the product at the end of the day... plus that site has Raspberry leaf tea and a few other things I want so I am sure I can clock it up to £25 for free P&P

Ooh, im invading from 2nd tri
I bought a cheapy tesco gym ball to use... hope it'll be ok. I'm guessing it will, i'm not too heavy, lol.

I just got a gym ball from Argos. I love it though, it is the only thing that I can sit on for an extended period and not get pains in my pelvic girdle. It is also great for leaning over when I am kneeling and watching the TV....very comfy!
