Hi all im 6 weeks pregnant and found out a had a bicornuate uterus after a mc in my first pregnancy. Just wondered if anyone else had one or any info. I heard its common to bleed in pregnancy with one of these because there is two horns but not sure as my midwife doesnt seem to know much about it.

Hi,

I have no idea about this but I didn't want to read and run. I'm sure someone will know something.

x

:) no worries thankyou, i have this post in first trimester also so maybe someone can shed some light for me x

is that when your uterus is heart shaped? i think some women also need a stitch in the cervix to stop pre term labour bnot entirely sure on this though my friend had a heart shape uterus and she carried full term x

yes its heartshaped sound nice really :), but not sure i googled it and it was the worst thing i could have done you've reasurred me alot if your friend carried full term thats what worried me as i read you can go into labour at 25 weeks!, did your friend experience any bleeding in her pregnancy i read that the opposite horn to what the baby implants in doesnt realise the pregnancy and can bleed as normal, i havent lost alot just mainly when i wiped and its mainly brown but had a scan yesterday and all was well :)

I didn't know the name of it but had heard of when the uterus effectively has two parts, a right and a left.

They should be talking to you a bit more about it - go and see your doctor and ask to speak to a specialist about it, who will be able to reassure you and talk to you in more detail about your personal circumstances - if your pregnancy could stop at 25 weeks (flip, that's me tomorrow!) then you'll be high risk and they will need to make sure you get extra care and obs etc.

Good luck!

yes i agree that a consultant at the hospital should of gone through everything you needed to know to give you reasurrance

Hi there
I dont usually post here but saw this and wanted toshare. My friend had this and carried full term and gave birth in hospital. A few consultant apts along the way but a good pregnancy.

Hope that helps a bit. I don;t have much othe rinfo for you but maybe it's a bit of reassurance? Like the others said the comsultant whould be able to answer all your queries

Good luck x

Now im getting ready for baby number 2 and hoping all goes well have great doctor here in Melbourne Australia Dr Lydenhale at the fremasons... My doctors said that if i got pregnant before op then chances are that it could hinder the growth of baby it was 50/50.. did not want to take the chance i was advised to do the op and did and all good. Every one is different and all unique and different shapes. Carmen
