.. Im so tired. I've been feeding every 2-3 hours since he was born but I'm getting weary of it now. I gave birth during the night and lost that sleep too. Do any of you express so that hubby can do it? I can't really be bothered with the hassle of sterilising and expressing.. Seems easier to just do the feeds.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying bf, just find it quite draining at times.

Express hun!! Babe is probably comfort sucking or not drinking much.

I express in the morning and evening, and give her the boob occasionally. This way you can see how much your giving lo..I express enough for 2 x 90ml bottles each time (which is how much it Takes to satisfy Evie). We also do some formula feeds to fill her up in the evening.

The sterilising isn't that bad...gives your boobies a break!x

It does get better! Isla was the same to begin with. During the day she goes 2-4 hours and at night 5-8 hours xxx

I feed about the same during the day, but at night Sofia only wakes up once. But before she started this new trend I was up twice in the night, for some reason I wasn't that tired but it is a lot! I would express if I were you then at least you can get some rest. Xx

Ella used to comfort feed like that. When she was 5weeks and well established at feeding I introduced a dummy and she started sleeping through the night! It will get easier hun. There is nothing wrong with expressing tho if u want a rest! :)

PP - we are feeding 2-3 hourly in the day and slightly less at night, 4 feeds at night and the other 5 /6 feeds in the daytime.

It is draining, I don't like being cold all the time with a boob permenatly out!
I am expressing at mo as Devon has a stinking cold and not feeding very much at all and boobs have gone mad ad leekign all over the shop, but when I tried it before it dikd give me a break when hubby fed, but my boobs hurt as wanted to be emptied , so went back to just me feeding as easier.

Hope Oliver lets you have more of a break soon once his routene gets going. I find feeding then walking with pushchair past the time of a feed helps make the break longer between feeds .

JJ that's the other thing. If hubby fed him at night my boobs would be bursting anyway and I would have to express so it would be easier to just feed him. Hubby sees to DD in the mornings so if we are both up during the night it's harder to see to her.

He doesn't seem to be comfort sucking (DD would have done this) he gulps the entire time and his feeds don't actually last that long before he looks completely full and drunk lol

He's still got jaundice which makes him sleepy so feeding often is good for him I guess instead of going long periods without.

When do they roughly last 4 hours? He's still only 2 1/2 weeks so i think 2-3 hours is still the norm isn't it? MW asked about feeding and when I said every 2 hours she said "still?"

George still feeds every 2-4hrs in the day time but can now go much longer at night. I think he started to gonlonger by about 4 weeks old. Sounds like you are doing great though. As he gets bigger his stomach will be able to hold more and you'll get more of a break. Good that he feeds fast - G used to have to be on for at least 40 mins to get through 3 hrs!

I'm the same pp,luckily he feeds best at night and goes 3 hours between feeds and only feeds for 5 mins wen he wakes up so I'm soon asleep again. But during the day he can go anything from half an hour to 3 hours between feeds. I'm determined to carry on til he's sleeping thru the night tho-I refuse to warm bottles up in the dark wen I have a supply on tap lol xxxx

Oh and try and have a nap in the day,put the housework etc on hold-ur health is more important and half an hour in the afternoon does me wonders xxx

Sometimes for small batches of days - Devon will stack up his feeds during the evening, the health visitor called it cluster feeding. Where you feel like he permenantly feeds all evening, where he puts it I don't know. But he has gone 5 hours at night before after feeding like this as if filing up for a longer night. Then when I got him weighed he was piling it on at the time, so must have been a growth spurt as were not doing that at the moment.

Hang in there , I agree with the girls, you are doing great X

Thanks frankie. Actually this morning he fed at 2:30 then 6am :)

My DD would have taken 45mins & even then i would worry that she hadnt got enough but DS is more like 10-15mins and it's clear he's getting plenty.

Your right i don't sleep when he sleeps and I should be.

:hugs: the first weeks was horrible! it gets better! i know its not for everyone but in the end i refused to feed him unless its gone 2 hours (he was on all the time!) n it really helped! also walking him outside everyday, didnt matter if it pissed down or snowstorm i sweated my tits of pushing him in deep snow, anyway he started to sleep 4-5 hours in the afternoon! gave ma a propa break. also when he was 8 weeks i started a bedtime routine and most nights he only feeds 2 times but if hes not well we are up every 1-2 hours..
