Bee has 5 teeth - all pretty recent. She has taken to biting me during feeding. Not all the time mind.

Will she learn not to? Or will it get worse? ..

No experience of this myself but my mum told me that my youngest brother bit her once while feeding and she screamed. He never did it again!

Hope Bee stops that soon - it's a big fear of mine about BF too (no teeth here yet tho) xx

I was told to take my ds off and say no when he did. Although the first time he did it hurt so much I jumped and screamed and he never did it again!

When I asked my MW about this she says it does happen but if you take baby away or yelp then they will learn not to?

I didn't BF so can't comment personally, I'd imagine she will grow out of it there's no doubt loads of bitten boobs under what we don't see

Invest in some nipple cream?

xxxx

This happened to me with both the girls.
A firm no usually worked, each time they did it I would unlatch them.

As Erraid got older she kept biting me and it was actually her way of telling me she didn't want the boob, also my queue to stop feeding her this was around 10months old.

She should stop it in a few days x

My lo has bit me a few times. First time, he was upset and frustrated and I tried to use bf to calm him down. Wont make that mistake again! Other times I've thought he wanted bf and he didn't. I take him off and react with a sharp ouch noise and he doesn't like that. He's really taken to solids in the day now and I have to keep up with his incredible appetite.

Thanks ladies. Yep it seems to be when she doesn't actually want a feed.

She seems to think "no" is a challenge / game lol.

Was worried it means she wants to stop bf'ing but when she wants a feed she is fine.

Usually its small phases that they grow out of quicky once you make it clear you dont like it. The only problem I had that was harder to fix was when DDs teeth started rubbing on my nipple but that was caused by a bad latch rather than actual biting. She would also bite at random times when she had gass in her tummy. Often I would hear it gurgle and she would bite down at the same time. That didnt happen often and wasnt on purpose, just a reflex caused by the discomfort. If saying no isnt working, maybe try saying no and putting her down for a couple of minutes? That way she looses your attention too.

Mine did too but only once or twice at around 8 months.

Sometimes "yelping" etc can stop it, but other times it makes them do it more for the reaction ;)

If you watch them closely whilst they feed you can usually preempt when they are going to bite, because to suckle their tongue covers their bottom teeth so they have to move their tongue to bite you - or they'd bite into their own tongue lol. It's usually when they are done and just messing about.

If they bite you're best taking them off the breast and telling them "that hurts" etc and finishing the feed. They should soon realise that biting = no more milk for a while, or hopefully just grow out of it.
