So I want to try and lose a stone and get back to my post baby weight before the new year but am wondering if crash dieting will affect my milk supply.
I know at this point you will be thinking yes, and don't crash diet ect but here's my thinking...
A typical days food for me at the moment is:
Breakfast- a fried egg sandwich (white bread and butter and tomato sauce)
Lunch- crisps, toffee popcorn, 3 jam donuts
Dinner- 1/2 pizza, 4 slices cheesy garlic bread, chocolate
And lots of sugary tea in between...
I know right... Awful lol don't know how I've managed to lose any weight at all!
And my 'crash diet' will consist of veg, fruit, lean meat eggs and water, so surely that would be better? Normally I would diet and have around 1000-1200 calories a day, so because I'm bf would it be sensible to add another 500 to that..
And if it does affect breastfeeding then how? Does it diminish your milk supply or upset your lo?
Or will to much fruit and veg give my baby an upset tummy...
Want to know before I start .. Would be *such* a shame if I couldn't diet ;-)
Xxx

Dont crash diet, just eat lots of veg, choose lean meat and low fat options. If you eat too little, it will potentially affect your supply plus if you lose weight too quickly, your body will release toxins which will go in your milk. 1 lb a week is.whats recommended i.think, probably no more than 2

I did WW for a bit by the way and whilst my weight was dropping slowly, LO seemed more.unsettled(he was little), maybe it was lots of fruit and veg, i dont honestly know.

I did WW as well while bf. Would totally recommend it. I ended up having a Mars bar at bedtime quite often to use up my extra bf points.

Hmmm the diet I was looking at claims that you will lose a stone in a week.... Maybe that's a bit too ambitious if the guidelines are a pound a week ... I've lost about 10 pounds in 6 weeks (1 stone 10 from when I was full term) from eating crap- just a little less crap than usual! So many healthy eating is the way forward! Xx

Why don't you just start to cut out the bad food and introduce healthier food? Rather than go from one extreme to the other. Breastfeeding helps you lose weight anyway but you need to make sure you eat a balanced diet other wise you will find that you are very tired and hungry and you might end up craving more sugar!

I know it can be frustrating and you just want to be back to normal but just think about the amazing thing your body has done, you just made a human!
