Well guys OH and I are trying to organise a boat trip down the Shannon with a group of friends for the summer as we want to do this while Naomi is still small and won't run about and give me a stroke so close to the water. I sent an email to all our friends...and got this back from a bloke who's friendly with my husband.

Hey Susan,
thanks a million for the offer but I am afraid I am going to have to decline (gracefully I hope). No offence, but the thought of locking myself away in a confined space with babies for a week is not my idea of a holiday (maybe one day but not yet!).I do sincerely appreciate inclusion on the invitation however and wish you all a great time. And, perhaps we can work out meeting up for a night or two at the weekend if that suited.

Hope all is going well in parent land,
Bloke

I thought the email was rather rude in a clueless didn't know any better sort of way. Would you agree or am I overreacting. I wrote back and told him that we would have only made him go one round with the baby!

Not over reacting at all. Fair enough babies are not everyones cup of tea, but he did not have to phrase it as he did. The reply was fine apart from "No offence, but the thought of locking myself away in a confined space with babies for a week is not my idea of a holiday", as that makes him very rude and insulting.

Must be my dreadful sense of humour, but I read it with "tongue in cheek". I wouldn't be offended, but then I don't know the bloke. Nonetheless, give him a kick in the nuts anyway when you next see him!! :D :D

Yeah, well, OH said it could be taken that way too, so I reserved my temper and sent him a joky reply!

Sue

:o my jaw dropped to the floor when i read that!! if someone had said that to me i would have taken offence too!

I think it is just his sense of humour and he probably meant nothing by it. He's a bloke after all, I wouldn't expect any better!! I wouldn't be offended by it, but a little annoyed maybe...

Sorry to go off topic a bit here - was reading the post and pinch of salt, I agree blokes are blokes.... -

Kim, that picture of your bubs in B & W is absolutely gorgeous. What a gorgeous little baby - I hope mine is going to turn out half as lovely.

Awww thank you :D I got it taken at Olan Mills, using the vouchers from my bounty pack so it was free  Maybe you could get one done in the same pose? It is colour but I changed to to black and white on my computer.

was a tad thoughtles but thats men for you..

I was brought up on boats and i haveb't drowned so don't worry to much, we spend most of our weekends on boats in the summer so it will be fun when ewan starts crawling/walking - will need eyes implanted in my backside, and put my self on beta blockers now :D

Like the others said he properbly didn't mean it the way it can across, he proberly just didn't really think or reread it before sending.

thats one thing I hate about emails and txts and why I'm always carefull what I put (proberly why my posts are so long sometime too) because you just don't know how it's going to come across to the person reading it, friendly joking sarcasem (sp) can often be taken the wrong way when written.

try not to worry and just enjoy you holiday
