I'm giving up on the BLW idea - she's just not grasping it. I've tried for 3 weeks now but she's hardly taken anything yet she'll wolf down anything on a spoon!

I'm going to puree our own foods yet still offer her finger foods. I intend to have some jars in the house if i'm ever running out of the door and need to grab something...which leads me to my question, what is the 'best' baby food brand?

Organix won Gold Mother and Baby awards for 2010/11 but wondered what everyone else uses?

I've so far bought a collection of Hipp and a couple of Cow and Gate jars and a couple of boxes of Heinz powdered meals and Cow and Gate Fruity Porridge mix.

When LO was younger I only gave him Cow and Gate, but since he's gone on the 10+ months I have tried them all, I find the heinz ones quite watery so stay away from those now xx

The Heinz one I have you add water to and I have the opposite prob! lol! Have to add more water as it's so thick!!! Hehe!

Kinda liking the idea of organic baby food so Hipp or Organix are the contenders for now :)

What's BLW? I always used organic HIPP jars just because I thought they would be better for her and she seemed to like them. Also, I would have bought pouches called something like "ellies" organic food, she loved those too.

This week LO has had the hipp ones and he loved them, they smell great too! Ohhh  The heinz jars I used, once you got near the end it was practically all watery sauce so I stopped.. I just went with what sounded nice, when Odhrán was little he loved Cow and Gate sweet potato, granpas sunday lunch, banana and cookie crumble, fruit cocktail.. I know what heinz ones you mean.. He loved those too but is a bit old now, apart from the yoghurt one.. They are pretty thick! I think Asda do 3 of them for £5, they're quite expensive in Boots/Sainsburys unless there is an offer on.. Also Ella's Kitchen pouches are fab too and great for when you're out xx

Baby Led Weaning - Basically you bypass the puree stage and go straight to finger foods. Evelyn's always been little so want to make sure she's getting food down as with BLW she throws 99% of it on the floor! lol!

Ella's Kitchen I think they're called, i've seen those! Might give them a go too!

Got a jar of banana and cookie crumble, Jen - sounds lush!! Mmmm! Might have to have a try of that one myself!!

We posted at the exact same time lol Odhrán loves them too, he can do them by himself now.. I don't feel left out at all... :oooo:

The heinz powders are 2 for £3 atm in Sainsburys, I think it's usually like £2.05 for 1 x

We've given up on BLW too, Cahal just wasn't swallowing anything, it was all getting thrown on the floor but he was absolutely starving all the time, and when I offered him pureed food he practically ate the spoon too lol! This was a couple of weeks ago. I've been doing what you said Tasha, pureeing our own food as I make most of it from scratch anyway. If we have anything he can't eat then I have some prepared stuff, I've only tried Organix so far and he loves it! Morrisons usually have it on special offer too if you've got one nearby :)

I use Organix if Im out and about - at home I will use a jar if Im pushed for time after getting home late but I try to make my own most of the time. I make combinations of vegetables and have started adding a bit of cheese too. Matt LOVES them more than jarred food. I also give him Petit Filous - which I know has sugar in..mashed banana and stewed pear are favourites! I can't wait to make him all the lovely meals that I used to make for Rosie :)

We give Emily HIPP too but I try to make my own as much as possible, she never seems that keen on anything I make though :-(

She still has quite a bit of finger food, her favourite being laughing cow triangles. I will NOT give her bread as she had a bit of a choking incident and it's scarred me!!!!!

Ugh I remember Rosie choking on numerous occasions, the number of times I had to throw her upside down! It used to scare the pants off me x

I don't give Cahal bread either, I didn't realise he wasn't swallowing it until I was changing his nappy and saw it all jammed to the roof of his mouth about 30 minutes later - I was so worried about it dislodging while he was lying down and choking him that I scooped it out quick and he hasn't had it since!

Inky, that is scary!

These poor babies will get to about 8 or 9 yrs old and still be on puree food so we don't worry! Lol

It was horrible! God knows what I'd be like if he actually choked on anything!

Herbie hates my food lol so it jars most of the time with bits of finger food too.
BLW I would never do again dolly is 3 is a few wks time and still won't eat things like mashed potaoes sometimes there is times when they need to eat mashed food from a spoon and dolly just won't now she still whats anything dry and finger food

Oh god, I'm sure that freaked you Inky, I would I would have freaked anyway! I sometimes mush up a hard boiled egg for Odhrán he LOVES it, but stores most of the white in the side of his mouth, I thought he was swallowing it until he started looking like a hamster  I didn't do BLW, and Odhrán didn't start eating 10 month jars until he was 1, he loves finger food etc now, and loves feeding himself.. He will eat anything

We are weaning Ella onto Ella's kitchen food mainly because all the other jars etc we've tried have brought her out in rashes. They are expensive at £1 each but they are made from very pure ingredients- nothing added at all and she seems to like them so we'll go with them for now.
