Feeling down

you health visitor doesnt have a clue i fed both my boys jars untill they were abot 9 10 months and they eat anything now they are healthy eaters but i was at college full time and it was easier for me, don't worry about it most mums do and it wont affect his eating habits just try and vary the jars you give him and introduce finger foods.

Tried to cook all Damien's meals, but the lack of getting the amounts right everytime made me give up! I didn't want to use jars before, but now they are excellent. Better consistency than the stuff I make too. Except now we're going onto 7 month jars they all contain tomato so I'm gonna have to think of something else

i'm giving eva some jars and i've got boxes of cereal etc

I really need to get a blender because i think sometimes it would be easier to shove veg in when i'm making it.

the thing that puts me off is that i dont want to give her something that is wrong and i feel safer with the jars because they are made especially.

are the boxes ok? i've got porridge, fruity cereals and a few savoury ones. what is everyones opinions on them? x

I use boxed cereals for Damien's morning breakfast. I think they're alright, it's just like readybrek or porridge I guess!

by boxes i mean the cow and gate ones not normal cereal! (incase thats what you thought)

are the boxed dinners ok? like sunday dinner etc?

LMAO really? I give damien nesquick and cinnamon grahems (mmmmm)

Joking, honestly! yes I do mean the packet stuff, C&G, Heinz, etc lol

oh no sami nesquick is bad for babies  did your health visitor not tell you that?? :shakehead:

like dress damien in girls clothes?

i wonder what the health visitor would say if you took a boy in wearing girls clothes

Don't feel down Lou, it's not your fault!! I have some jars in my cupboard, the organic and mums own ones. They all say made with the finest ingredients and stuff but until I checked after this post, I didn't realise that they didn't say anything about vitamins and things like that. I blame the manufacturers ;) Personally I think they're great for convienience and will keep some in for when we're out and about :) Ella doesn't have a lot of puree but she has had some blended up stuff lately. She really likes blended avocado and pear, I keep it a bit lumpy though as she just spits it out if it's too smooth

I know that you're going to be keeping Isaac a veggie so it might be worth checking out if there are any good veggie recipe books? Also do you have a steamer? I'm going to buy a hob top one and cook up a load of different veggies for Ella, blend them, freeze some and then I've got some emergency meals back if I don't have time to cook fresh. But she does like her finger foods better :? I've found weaning is a bit hit and miss sometimes

Hi

Thanks for your replies. I am still giving Isaac his jars but I've moved him onto the 7 month ones now with lumps in. I still haven't given him any finger foods though because I reckon I would choke on one of them rice cakes so I don't think Isaac is ready yet.

Lou :)

The rice cakes melt into nothing, and most of Serens goes down her tops. If you are worried how about half a bana as finger food or a really mushy pear?

Yeah I tried him with banana but he wasn't impressed but I've just done my online shopping so got bananas coming tomorrow so I'll try again and hopefully he will have some this time.

Them rice cakes scare me beanie!

Lou :)

honestly they are not bad, really. I eat more of them then Seren does, she loves them and will suck on one til it is all mushy and then try and blend it into the carpet :D

Little monster lol

Jarrod ate Isaac's bag of rice cakes with pesto hummus and he said they were lovely!

Lou :)
