Hey guys

Does anyone know if it's safe to take benadryl acrivastine for allergies while pregnant? Or what allergy medications are safe during pregnancy?
The leaflet says ask the doctor which isn't helpful as I don't yet have a midwife or anything..

I have been taking it up until now (i'm about 5+4), but a google search isn't very clear. It basically says no harm proven but don't take it if you're not sure.

:eh:

After a brief google, it certainly seems that other people have been advised by their doctor to take it during pregnancy. One site suggested speaking to a pharmacist, which would be a quicker and easier way of finding out a bit more.

It said on their own site that there was 'no proven risk' in pregnancy, but it is very difficult ethically prove that something is unsafe in pregnancy, so sometimes, even if there is almost certainly no issue, companies will protect themselves to avoid getting sued.

Speak to someone as soon as you can though, as there might be some tiny increased risk of (as a very silly example) your ears falling off. If you're already prone to falling off ears, then it's probably not a good idea to take it.

Sorry that I can't give a more concrete answer! Some people seem to have taken it, but that doesn't guarantee that it's ok for you, so speak to someone when you get a chance.
