Do any of you take antihistamines all year round for allergies? It says online that you can't take the ones I usually take in pregnancy and that the only safe ones to take are the older ones like Piriton. So I take those instead in my 2ww. But it says on the box if you are pregnant ask your doctor. So I was wondering if I should ask the doctor now if I can take them, or wait till I need to go and get a pregnancy confirmed to ask about it. I can get away with taking one instead of 3 a day, but I need one before work, so because they are supposed to be one of the safe ones, should I just wait till I know that I am pregnant to sort it out?

I have just started suffering from allergies and I went to see the doctor about them. I said I was concerned about what I took because we were trying to conceive. He said to use Piriton and that it was safe to use if pregnant. Even though he has said this I am trying to take as few as possible. I would suggest that you speak to your own doctor but I thought this information would be useful.

I know breastfeeding isn't the same as being pregnant, but I was also recommended (by the pharmacy) piriton as the only thing I could take when I was breastfeeding and really suffering.

piriton is one of the ones that can make you drowsy i think but i have heard it is safe too x

Thanks guys. I''l just carry on taking one a day (the 4mg ones) and ask my doctor when I go.
