Hi all,

Since monday, Ash has been off his food. He had a lot of diarohhea and was being quite sicky aswell. It has just got worse, today he's hardly eaten a thing and his milk intake has gone down too.

Tonight I noticed 2 warty looking lumps at the corner of his lips. I'm worried he's got oral herpes or something. Apparently it's quite common for babies to pick it up from daycare.

It's been 5 days since he's eaten properly and I'm starting to get really worried. Anyone else experienced this?

Just need someone to make me feel positie about all this,

I'd get him to the doctors if I were you. Diarohhea can make you really dehydrated and that can be dangerous. Have you taken his temperature? Also you can get coldsores when you are poorly or rundown and I expect thats the same for babies so I think it might just be the sickness and pooh's making his immune system weak. Until you can get to the doctors I'd try replaceing the fluids he has lost with plain water. Food doesn't matter so much as long as fluids are kept topped up.

Good luck

thanks Lou,

he's been to the GP twice this week. The last time was this lunchtime. She's prescribed rehydration salts for him so we hae those. One thing he is doing, is drinking lots of water, and the gP says he doesn't look dehydrated. So that's one relief.

It's just the food that's worrying me. He's so little and he needs his calories and he's just not eating at the moment. Except yoghurt, he'll eat that but get's so upset with anything else.

Daniel just went throught a horrible tummy bug! As I understood there is something going around! He still has a bit of diarreah and still not back to eating normally (eats much less then before)

We were given diorolyte to give him to drink. Try to feed him less but more often And, I also was giving Daniel camomile tea. It will desinfect his tummy a bit. If he wouldnt drink pure camomile add some sugar in there.

If you are weaning, dont give any fruits (they can cuse diarreah). Basiclyy what we have been feeding Daniel for the past week is just potatoe puree made with turkey stock and rice (all blended together, consistence (sp?) like a cream soup).

This can be very nasty. Hope your lo will get better soon!

Awww, I don't really know, just wanted to say I hope he gets better soon

Sorry I didn't realise you'd already seen the doc :D Maybe he has a few sores in his mouth and it hurts to eat solids but I would expect cold yogurt would be soothing for him. Maybe try some normal baby food he usually has mashed up and put it in the fridge for a bit so its nice and cool maybe? You could also think about getting him some vitamin drops or liquid to keep his vitamin intake up while he is getting over being poorly? Check with your doctor first though just to be on the safe side.

Hope he is better soon x

Thanks for the replies everyone.

We're still going through it, so praying that he takes a turn for the better when he wakes in the morning.
