Hi all,

Well I had my regular midwife check yesterday and she could not work out the position of the baby so sent me for a scan today.

I'm pleased to say his head is down and he isn't breech.

Saying this, I have come away a little worried and without really getting any kind of answer from the sonographer. While being scanned I noticed that the babs tummy is large (excuse the pun, but he looks pregnant) - when I mentioned it the sonographer said I had a lot of fluid surrounding the baby and his abdominal circumference is above average because he is swallowing a lot of the fluid.

Since coming home I have had a read of my notes, where she has stuck her printed measurements and it reads: Amniotic fluid: increased. Amniotic fluid index: deepest pool 8.0cm. The baby's abdominal circumference is 345.0mm and just about touching the end of the chart. His estimated fetal weight is 7lb 4oz.

When I asked about it she just said "don't worry about it too much, speak to your midwife, she is the best person to explain".

Do I have reason to be concerned, is it something I have done during my pregnancy that I can stop now before it worsens?

I find it odd how my sickness has come back this past week, bringing up the awful bile 2 to 3 times a day and a slight headache, is it possible it is related?

Worried Mummy to be x

I wish I had an answer but I don't know. If she was concerned about it though she would have said/done more etc so i suppose everything is fine. Don't know why she didn't just tell you instead of saying ask the midwife

im not sure hun but i would call midwife and ask her to explain to you. im sure if there was anything wrong the sonographer would have got someone to review you and babba. i would call midwife just to put your mind at ease xx sorry i dont have any other answers xxx

I agree with the other ladies, I would definately have to ring the midwife to put my mind at rest!Try not to worry too much xxx
