But I don't have PCOS!! Could it just be to get my weight down???

Have had ultrasound scans and they were all clear. I do have thyroid problems as in I don't have 1!! Think my thyroxine is under control at the mo.

I do have high levels of prolactin so I'm on bromocriptine for that.

What could be other explanations for it???

Thank you xxxx

If your blood sugar levels are high your body will not use hormones efficiently so metformin can be used to control the blood sugar which in turn will help your body absorb the hormones more effectively x

I am also on metformin but I have been put on that so that when I start clomid in May it has a better chance of working (I have pcos)

I have read that metformin helps you lose weight (fingers crossed!)

The doc said I don't have PCOS so I don't understand why I'm on it. I have heard so many conflicting stories I don't know where I am xx

As far as I know you don't have to have PCOS to be prescribed metformin it is just an antidiabetic, and this doesn't necessarily mean you're diabetic either. Your blood sugar could be a bit high which puts you at type II diabetes risk and metformin will just reverse this so it's all good :-)

Blood sugar levels and fluctuations in insulin (as a result of eating too much sugar) can seriously mess with your hormones. check out insulin resistance and infertility on google. Metformin helps with this. In my case it was what I need to conceive and carry my baby to term.

You should also be careful how much refined sugar, bread, pasta etc you eat as this messes the insulin up too in women who might be insulin resistant. Eat plenty of pretein, drink loads of water and cut out the cake lol That what I did and I truly think it helped x
