Bedtime milk

Ruby never wanted to drink her milk until she was in her cot that was my problem lol

Come to think of it, we only seem to use the cow cup for milk now. She has the cheapo TT sippy's the rest of the time.

I'd just never thought to give it to him in his cot! Probably because I always fed him in the lounge then took him to bed.. I guess it's a good thing I didn't think of it because I'm sure it would have been so much easier to get him to sleep that way when I stopped feeding him!

To be totally honest i think it was easier for me giving her milk in her cot from about 12 months as then i could sort her 5 year old brother out with his bath and pjs and by the time that was done i would go back in and check on her and she was sound asleep or ast least very nearly lol

we switched to nuby cups when she could hold the bottle herself. then i got fecked off with the cups which leak and are just totally useless!! i dont like seeing babies that can hold the bottle themselves sitting there drinking. dunno why lol. i'm desperate to get her off the bottle now, but with her op coming up, i want to wait til all that's over so she's still got something to comfort her. my sister claims to have had both hers off the bottle by 6 months, she reckons they were both drinking from sippys by themselves at that point. i find it rather hard to believe

If you explain to her she will understand. Just because she cant articulate it doesnt mean she doesnt. I'm not saying anything about the bottle BTW! I think you should do it when you feel you are both ready but I just wanted to make the point that fi you explain something to her she will understand even if she doesnt respond positively IYKIWM :)

Thanks for that, yes Rosie understands what I say to her, she demonstrates this every day plus she is very clever (as all our babies are!) and is always surprising us. I meant that I wanted to be sure that she knew why she wasnt having a bottle at bedtime; I'll probably continue for as long as she wants milk then; perhaps as she becomes more active she will eat more and then naturally decline any milk. We'll see, I'll let her lead me :)

I think letting them lead is almost always the best way :) I hoe that came across as it was intended! I just mean they do understand why a lot of the time, even at this young age but they dont always like it!

all babies are different. rhys was off bottles by 8months (we switched to the boots 'bottle to cup' beaker with a soft spout and handles) but ffion is still on bottles.. we were meant to stop the bottles at christmas but with everything thats gone on i just havent been able to take her comfort off her.

We are still on bottles here!! Niamh has about 5 bottles a day but that's mainly due to her feeding issues. I think we''ll be on bottles till she's almost 2 as she can't suck so we have to squeeze milk in her mouth for her. We use a squeezy sports bottle for water and i did put milk in for Niamh as i'm very concious (sp!) of the fact we still use bottles. She tasted it, spat it out and gave it me back with a very grumpy look on her face!! Will keep trying though.
Like Tezzy says they are all different, Kian gave his bottle to santa just before he was 2. He loved his milk but has never drank a drop since!! I can't really risk that happening with Niamh yet as i need her to keep gaining weight.

I've decided to just go with the flow! and stop worrying about what others think!!

Jack still has milk in a bottle but water in a sippy, I stil can't get him to take the sippy himself thou I end up holding it. My plan is to switch to a cup for milk at 12 months. I don't think it will upset his bedtime routine too much cos he has his feed in the nursery, then story then down into the cot awake. Just hoping it stays that way

Well, we tried him with the Nuby cup yesterday. Not good is all I can say! I spat most of it out, threw it at my husbnd and dribbled the rest of it down his front. Needless to say, he ended up having a bottle in the end!!!

Oh no :( Maybe next time.

AJ was never able to use a Nuby cup.
I've just bought a cow cup to give a go for his afternoon milk, once my poorly baby is better.

Aww, how's he doing Lis? Give him some sloppy hugs from Oliver x

I'm really sorry but that actually made me laugh out loud

Sorry it didn't go well though... maybe sticking to the bottles for the next few weeks and introducing the nuby cup during the day when he can take more time over it would be easier?

we had that with nuby kat, for some reason they just dribbled all the time!! then one of the spout bits broke and i chucked them

Me too, I'm so juvenile

When I finally get into town we're going on a cup mission and going to hide the bottle to see how we go :oooo:

Well, he normally drinks out of the Nuby quite nicely. So I'm not sure wht that was about! Maybe I'll try the cow cup tonight and see what he thinks of that. If thats a failure too, then maybe I'll leave it a few weeks and try again, like Sams mum said.

OMG, I've only just noticed what I said!!! It was actually Oliver doing the spitting, dribbling and throwing - not me!!!

 I had a great picture in my head of you dribbling it all down his front... I'm disappointed!
