Hi ladies,

just wondering who tracks their BBT? as i'm now most likely on to cycle 11 :( i thought i could try something different but i've just read up on it and it seems it tells you that you have just ov'd, so sort of tells you too late?!

is there any good reason for doing it?? x

I don't know much about this either Pos, would like to hear too :) x Know that's no very helpful! x

U always get a dip of temp around Ov so u need to really track bbt for acfrw months before it is any use so u can see what is normal for ur body x

thanks ladies! olive (nearly typed the wrong name then!!) i'm just trying to find new ways of doing things! hoping i might have been doing something wrong so could fix it!?

thanks mrsmc, i'm not sure if i have the patience to do it for a few cycles, have you used it?? xx

I've been temping for 2 1/2 years. I can see when I've ovulated, but can't predict from it.

However, it shows me I have ovulated and it's shown me round about when each month (although I'm fairly irregular).

We just BD every other day to catch it, but are able to see afterwards when it was (and when AF's due)

Oh that's interesting, I have been playing with the thermometer this month (my new favourite toy) and noticed today my temperature was much lower this afternoon - 95.95 - than the morning - 96.8 - (the BBT I am tracking).... wonder if it was ovulation? Or just cos being in bed is much cosier and warmer?! I am having my Lh surge today!!

so scotch egg, do you bd every other day all month??!! i dont think my oH would be up for that. i might give it a go on wednesday when the witch arrives, something different i suppose x

I started temping from our first month of trying and as been mentioned it doesn't really show when to expect ovulation but you can tell when it has happened fromt he temp rise. With doing your temps you can see that you have ovulated, and exactly what day, how long your LP is and when AF is due

You do need to try and take your temp at the same time every morning, as soon as you wake up before drinking, getting up for the loo, talking etc

It may mean nothing as the whole temping thing is based on your waking temperature so you have to take your temp first thing in the morning when you've woken up and record that temp.

Hi. Dont worry what ur temp was in the afternoon. Basal means when ur heart is at rest so its best first thing in the morn as soon as u wake up, before ur heart starts to work harder. I started taking mine this month, but its really just to arm myself with more info for my specialist appointment next month. All sorts of things can affect ur reading tho, such as alcohol the nite before, illness, restless nite, even sleeping with ur mouth open. So it does take a few cycles to get used to it and see a pattern.

Yeah, we do. Really important to us that we do the same when I'm fertile to when I'm not.

Before TTC we used to do 2-3 times a week, but we aimed for every other day to start with, kept it up and now it's a habit and we both get angsty if we don't get it every other day

(defined in our house as 'sex day today' and 'sex day tomorrow')

I've been tracking my BBT since last summer. I started tracking a couple of months before TTC properly to get to know my cycle. After spending time on forums I found the fertilty friend website. I find this really useful. It not only allows you to input your temperatures and show you your chart it will also let you input loads of other info like CM, OPKs when you BD and lots more info. It then analyses your cycle and tells you when you are likely to be fertile. I find it useful becuase my cycles aren't all that regular, so it keeps track of all my cycles and I can then tell the average length of cycle, when I'm likely to be fertile and so on. But then, my job is as a data analyst, so I love looking at stuff like that. I did have my own spreadsheets before finding FF - this gives you so much more. Hope this helps. Good luck with it.

haha! Scotch Egg that's funny! good on your OH! mine wouldn't manage every other day :(

i'll look at FF thanks Toni xx

i considered doing this but am not disciplined enough for it - plus with shift work I couldn't test at the same time each day really, but still could after a block of sleep.
Lucky you pos! Mine would do it about 5 times on a daily basis if he could convince me!

hmm not sure which of us are the lucky ones! men are so annoying they either dont want it enough or want it too much - or maybe we're the annoying ones lol!? xx

I track my BBT. When you chart it it shows you when you are most likely to ovulate. It helps me and also my sister a lot. My sister conceived twins 2 months ago. She charted her ovulation too, and tracked her BBT.
