I posted this in the baby/toddler thread a while ago. I guess I'm being a bit more specific and posting here.

Like the title says really. Does anyone have any recommendations for babywearing newborns in the summer? I'm due my 2nd in July and I'd like a good wrap sling carrier whichever suitable and comfortable for July/august/September time.

It seems to be harder in hotter weather to babywear which I didnt actually realise until I started googling to buy. Duh really. Anyone actually had a baby in the summer and used a sling etc? I'm completely clueless as dd was born in January and hated her carrier.

I remember reading somewhere that when you have the baby next to your body in a sling/wrap you body helps regulate baby's temperature... I don't have any experience but I would've thought that a cotton wrap/sling would probably be best for summer? x

Thanks hun. I forgot I even posted this haha. I think that's what I'm looking for tbh. Just trying to find a decent one. I posted on my local Facebook group so I'm going to go down to their library and have a look. Determined to find a good one for summertime. It's weird the things you stress over pregnant lol xx

I had a July baby and used a caboo. You do have to mindful of the amount of layers that adds so then just adjust what baby is wearing accordingly. There are carriers that specifically have more airflow like Boba air but I dont know what they are like for newborns. A sling library is your best bet!

Thanks megsmeadow. I'll have a look at a caboo at the library:) xx

Lillebaby do a soft structured carrier called all seasons which has a zip down flap with a mash bit inside to keep you cool during the summer. Can be used from newborn with no insert and lasts up until they are toddlers.

You might find a website called babame.com useful and they have a sling questionnaire which you can complete to find out what would be best for you.

A stretchy wrap will be fine to begin with, just be aware of the temp and layer accordingly. Any cotton wrap will be fine or if you're a particularity hot person they're linen blend wraps about too Xx

Connecta make a solar version that is lightweight for summer. Not sure how big baby would need to be, make sure you get one with the accessory strap to make smaller for a newborn if you choose one. I would hold off buying and visit a sling library once here.

Thanks for the help everyone. I found my sling library and the next one is next Sunday so I'm dragging OH along with me. They let you hire for £10 a month so that may be a solution for when baby is newborn xx

I had a cotton sling when my daughter was born in June of 2015. They are lightweight and stretchy, can be worn a few different ways and was a godsend. The brand I bought was cuddlebug, £20 on Amazon. I can’t wait to use it again.

I have a caboo. I like it but summer could pose a bit of a problem as it would be very very hot. Not sure I’d use a connecta on a newborn but that’s just my personal preference I think.

I liked the look of the caboo but thought the same about the summer, reviews seem to say it's a bit much. I'm considering just hiring something for July/august and then buying something I really like for September onwards. I am in Scotland anyway lol.. xx

My son was born in November but I live in the UAE where the temp was still 30+. I got the boba bamboo wrap which was very light and comfortable.

Thanks Kim I'm going to keep all these suggestions in mind for the sling library. So helpful xx
