Scarlett is a terrible burper, she just will not burp. We've tried all the usual positions, shoulder, sitting up and patting/rubbing her back, across my knee and even got my mum/gran/aunt to try and she'll just not burp, any tips ladies?

I know she's got some wind as she'll smile away and twitch her lips so by about 3pm she's quite uncomfortable. Infacol made her sick so reluctant to use it again. We're using the MAM bottles so I don't think she's taking in a lot of air but it seems to build up then she has an unsettled afternoon and evening so it can get exhausting as I'm shattered by then. She's just started wanting 4oz too after only taking 2.5 before this week xx

My girly is the same, if she doesn't burp I will keep her upright about 45 mins to help digest. Sometimes I find walking around with her helps rather than sit still winding then go back to it.

What i do, and this is just me, I put baby over my shoulder and then I gently lean forward and come back up a few times. My little one personally hated it but haven you tried gripe water?

Yes, gripe water...but it's good from 1 month old. How old is your baby?

They also say that carrying baby in a carrier (or just upright) helps with wind. Maybe try that?

Also, maybe try winding her in the middle of the feed? I've heard people say that works too.

Thanks girls, she's 2.5 weeks so I'm counting down until I can try gripe water, boots do their own make thats apple flavoured so ill get that.Tried winding half way through, no luck. After every ounce nothing. I'll try the leaning forward and back on my shoulder. I've got some dentinox, but it really stinks of dill and worried it'll make her sickly like the infacol. She does pump a lot, but shes still windy. Xx

I've found carrying him upright up the stairs (to go change his nappy) has helped when he's being stubborn with wind.

Also, lying them down for a bit and rubbing their tummy, before trying them upright again.

Don't forget - trumping counts! So if baby is trumping away, they won't need to burp as much

I think it's more likely to get sick when they wind "too late" my son was hard to wind and he still is sometimes he's nearly 2,5.. Especially when starting weaning a late burp would mean everything would come back up. You've got to be careful putting them on their backs as the milk can flow back and that's dangerous at that age.. I would rather have to work with infacol than do nothing at all.. I used mam bottles and although they're taking out much air they're not taking it all out. If the vent rips at some point it won't work as good.. That's the little bubble with a cut through it on the bottom of the teat.. You also tend to be able to see the bubbles what's causing the wind.. Sometimes we had that he'd "blow" bubbles back into it during feeding.. Up right is the way to go and you don't need to go crazy with them but just have a little wiggle on your legs that always helped me for me whilst walking around holding him over my shoulder.. The more they can straighten themselves the more easily it will get up.. Also rubbing their back and seeing what makes them jump or move away from that spot a little helps finding it.. My sis in law come and tell me that when he was nearly a year old!

I found the same with my LO and only my dad could get wind out of him without trouble. Hold upright over the shoulder and rub and pat their backs. If they wriggle and squirm then they have wind. Persevere with it and it will get easier as they get older. Walking upstairs with him over shoulder also works a treat. Good luck!

I sometimes find lying them down for a few mins then picking them back up helps when all else fails!

Hv suggested we tried dentinox drops and we're getting some burps now, not loads though but more than before. Her umbilical cord had finally fell off so I can give her tummy a proper massage xx

Infacol is good too. My LO was terrible, even with anti colic bottles. Sometimes it's just something you have to ride out and they do get better, my LO probably grew out of it at around 11weeks and is starting to bring his own wind up in between bottles now.

The only two things I found worried was as Mummybexee says, lying down they back up or sitting them on your leg and putting one hand on their chest and the other on their back and apply a little pressure then move their torso in a circular motion x

She was really sick with infacol so using the dentinox instead as we cam pop it in her bottle. s
Shes doing the odd little one now and we occasionally get a big one. She really does pump so much though really huge ones so at least it's coming out. She was much more settled yesterday think as you said just got to ride it out. Xx

With my daughter we used to hold her upright and gently move her body round in a circle, so we were kind of wiggling for her. Always brought her wind up really fast and we never had problems.
