My lo is one in march. Recently i noticed she really does not want me to spoon feed her as she bats the spoon away and gets very annoyed and closes her mouth right up to avoid it. I dropped a bottle feed to encourage her so she has 2 bottles a day and still she's refusing. She will eat anything if she can feed herself it. Is this a normal stage of development. I worry she isn't getting enough? Although she's always been a good water and a big girl! Also if that is the case can anyone give me some more ideas for finger food meals please

My LO wouldn't let me spoon feed her from around 8 months. Just encourage her to self feed. My Lo is now 16 months and feeds herself everything. It's perfectly normal behaviour. She's trying to learn.
Cous Cous, avocado, cauliflower bakes, fish cakes, quiche, sandwiches, sausages, veg, fruit, omlette, baked potatoes, pasta, rice, literally anything! Make your own healthy pizzas etc, it's so easy being able to leave them to feed themselves, you get a chance to eat too!

Harper also has started refusing to be fed off a spoon so I let her feed herself now., she's 13.5 months. It gets messy but she's a lot happier spoon feeding herself x

My daughter wanted to feed herself from a very early age too but I worried she wasn't eating enough of it so we had a spoon each. As she had her own spoon she didn't mind me doing a few too xxx

I hear you! my lo is nearly 9 months and is the same, has 3 spoonfulls and that's it(if im lucky) except for porridge , is happy for me to feed him porridge! also ,now in the throwing everything on the floor stage! Im so stressed :(

It's totally normal and developmental. They just want to be independent.

Pretty much anything can be finger food, my LO even thought yogurts were great finger foods. It's just how much mess you are prepared to clean up!

Food before 1 is just for fun! They get most of their nutrients from the milk! If she doesn't want to be spoon fed then look into baby led weaning instead.

Yep
Oscar 1 in march and I have to load the spoon and pass to him now half the time

We always have 2 spoons as while he's trying to feed himself one I'm piling a mouthful in aswell

My daughter has fed herself for 6 months or so, she occasionally lets me spoon feed her but not very often. It does get extremely messy sometimes but as long as she eats and is happy I'm happy too. x

My LO has never been spoon fed, we started baby led weaning at 5 months and she has always fed herself. ( good points and bad points)
I'd just drop the spoon and let her have finger food :) it's messy and your unsure what they've eaten but it's amazing to watch them explore!! X x

try giving her a spoon too, and let her try to put it in the bowl and while shes doing that you spoon some in too - that way she may just take it while she's not thinking too much about the fact that you're doing it! Works with mine (whose also 1 in March ;))

while you do this up the amount of finger foods you offer (my lo doesn't eat much this way but we keep trying)
