Hi guys, i've just about all packed for me and now I'm starting on the babies hospital bag. This is a list of things I'm planning on taking. Please add anything if I've missed anything i'll need. Thanks :)

pack newborn sensitive nappies
small pack nappy bags
starter formula kit
small sudocrem care and protect cream
pack water wipes
muslin squares x3
bibs x3
hats x3
socks x3
newborn vests x3
newborn sleepsuits x3
0-3 vests x3
0-3 sleepsuits x3
teddy for baby
blanket
cardigan + leggings (for going home)
car seat

I've all of the above but x 6 rather than 3 (advice from my antenatal class)
Other bits I've got packed are:

Cotton wool
Scratch mitts

I just realised you've newborn and 0-3 months :) I've packed 4 x newborn and x 2 0-3. I've lots more at home if necessary.

I also have two going home outfits, one newborn, the other 0-3 months.

Writing that makes me sound v neurotic! ^

I was advised vaseline
As soon as theyre born whack is on as it makes wiping the meconium off much easier x

I'll go dig out my list i got at antenatal

I'm just packing up to 1mth and first size sleepsuits, 0-3mths usually are quite big - I've actually run out of room in my baby's bag x

For mum- (labour bag)
A clean tshirt or nightie
Dressing gown
Slippers/slip on shoes
Socks (for cold feet)
Drinks (suggested freezing some and putting in cool bag with non frozen and theyll all go to a nice temp. She recommended isotonic!)
Snacks (for you and birth partner. Advised if wardnis hit chocolate might melt so think about how youd store it)
Sponge/face cloth to keep cool
Face wipes to freshen up
Lipbalm as lips dry out (especially on gas and air)
Hot water bottle and cover or hot/cold gel pads
Cooling water spray
Magazine/book/word search/sudoku/ cards/ dominoes / music
Camera

(hospital bag)
Front opening nightie or something easy to breastfeed in
Comfy clothes (if youd rather be dressed during the day or for going home in)
Knickers - massive bridget jones ones or disposables
Maternity pads (buy a big pack of them as you'll leak a lot)
Nursing bras or ones without an underwire
Towels (old dark ones as theyll get covered in blood)
Breast pads
Snacks ans drinks
Phone and charger
Toiletries for showering afterwards. Hairdryer and straighteners for once back on the ward

For baby-

Big pack of nappies
Large roll if cotton wool or water wipes
Babygros and vests x 6 (for a 2 day stay)
Hat
Cardigan
Scratch mits
Bibs
Going home outfit(something warm for winter)
Carseat
Blankets (i was gonna use a snow suit but you can't really put them in one in the car ride home so will tuck in with a blanket instead)
Vaseline

Theyve said they have these available at our hospital but I'll bring my own anyway...
Baby shampoo
Baby towel
Cot sheets
Blankets
Formula and teats if your not bf'ing (i plan to bf but have brought ready made aptimil just incase)

If youre going to breastfeed pack some nipple cream too
I've got lansinoh

I agree regarding 0-3 clothes. Ive had 2 bigger babies (8lb4 and 9lb6) and both fit newborn fine and are swamped by 0-3!

That's good to know! I was trying to decide sizes and seem to have more newborn than I had planned. X

My biggest was 9.6lbs too and 0-3mths didn't go no where near her till she was about 4wks.

Gail that's such a long list, will add most hospitals don't supply formula- I definitely be packing comfy clothes and straightners they made me feel much better after that first shower x

I wouldn't bother with 0-3 as newborn or up to 1 month should be fine. 0-3 is much longer than newborn, my baby was long (75th centile) and was still swamped by some newborn stuff. I don't think you'll need socks either as baby will be in a sleep suit. Seems you have everything covered though x

Gosh my hospital bag seems so empty compared to what you all have.

I have a small bag of cotton wool balls.
2x vests
2x sleepsuits
2x hats
1x cardi
1x swaddle blanket
1x cellular blanket to cover car seat on way home
Car seat

I don't think our hospital would allow you to put any creams or use wipes etc on a newborn baby.
I'm not planning on staying in very long. Obviously if there is complications then hubby can bring up more stuff if need be.

In my bag I have a nightie for labour
Pyjamas for ward
Outfit for coming home
Huge black pants
Bra
Maternity pads
Hairbrush, bobbles and headband
Facecloth
Sports bottle with straw
Sock
Slippers
Toiletries - something for lips as gas and air dries them out.

I would maybe pack a few extra vests/sleepsuits in a spare bag and leave it in the boot of the car? No-one wants a long stay in hospital but you never know - and for me it's a case of avoiding oh having to leave me for too long if I'm feeling emotional / needy. Also my friend lost a full outfit in one poo explosion from just a night in hospital so she needed extra stuff just from that. At least if I have spares in the car I know he won't have to go far if they're needed xx

I kind of hope it was a baby poo explosion and not your friend!!

defo pack a towel now and mitts. I might take out 3 x 0-3 stuff and just pack 2. they do look big and I'm sure he'll not be a massive baby ha ha. :)
