Hi

Went to midwife yesterday and she said baby's heart rate was 170 which apparently is on the high side - she said it could be from my rushing or because the baby was very active while she was measuring. She asked me to wait in the waiting room and took it again half an hour later (much to my 4yo disgust as she was very bored!) it had gone back down to 140-150 (quoting from notes here).

She said this was ok because it had gone back down to within the normal range which she said was 120-160 and no further checks were needed. So I just have my normal check up in two weeks.

Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this or knew anything about it. I'm trying just to not think about it because the midwife didn't seem worried (but this is the same health board that told me I didn't need the swine flu vaccine - which I soon put them straight about!!)

Thanks

Lx

I had this Hun at last check heart rate was about the same as you but then settled back down. Dont think baby enjoyed being moved around to check position etc. If you are still worried you could always ask to be checked again xx

I m sure its fine. I can't find anything about it on Google but I'm sure if it was serious they'd have asked me to come back.

When I was in hospital being induced with Toby it took ages for things to get going and I spent hours wired up to the monitor with nothing better to do than watch his heart rate go up and down - every time I coughed or he woke up and wriggled around a lot or I had BHs his heart would go up to 170-180 for about a minute then go back down to 140-150ish again so it's probably just because baby had moved around or been woken up by all the prodding or something - if it came back down I'm sure it was nothing to worry about x
