Well posting my birth story while our daughter sleeps, I should be too but can't. As I posted in my sweep thread I had pains on the 14th, 16th then the weekend of the 17th and 18th of August all doing sod all to my cervix. 1cm, long and thick. On the 19th I had a scan as reduced movements and due to gestational diabetes docs a bit twitched. They discovered my fluid was low and decided to induce me, I finally had a propess pessary on the 20th at 00.30, 9 hours of waiting around first. I had a few irregular pains then the got regular and re examined 1-2cm and propess not where it should be and slipped down. Would be a difficult rupture of membranes if they could do it drip could start. I was then given a prostin at 23.00 on the 20th and at about 2am pains started quite regular, baby put on trace and heartbeat dipping with pains, started intravenous fluids and observed on monitor. Drs decided that I was able to have waters broken so moved to labour ward at 05.30
. Waters broken with gas and air to help me and for drip after 2 hours. Contractions far more painful and gas and air fab stuff.
The midwives were struggling to monitor baby's heartbeat due to my raised BMI so put a clip on head glad of that so no more holding it on. I was still 2cm according to the fresh Dr on and to start the drip, at this point I decided on an early epidural and it was the best decision ever. Sited that in minutes (09.30) and took a few doses to work gas and air set aside, drip started and waiting begins. I started the drip at 11am and away to go, for recheck at 3pm. Baby's heartbeat was dipping with most of the contractions and drs getting concerned so examined me early 2.15pm as wanted to do a blood sample from the head. The dr said "You can come again you are fully dilated, I thought we would be sectioning you!" I was to wait 1 hour then push no need for blood test yet.
I started to push epidural working well, didn't feel like I was getting anywhere. Pushing for 1.5 hrs dr back and he checked me as heartbeat still dipping. He said "I think you need a hand", baby was really close he asked for the instrumental delivery trolley and knew that meant episiotomy which I didn't want. I said "you ain't cutting me," and he replied, "then beat the trolley getting here," with that incentive I did big pushes and the head appeared shocking the dr a bit. My gorgeous little girl was born at 16:57, weighing 6lb 6.5oz. My OH did well and my sister was an epic birth partner. I ended up telling him the sex as he was so emotional, and he blubbed when he found out it was a girl. I had a small 2nd degree tear due to her speedy head delivery, I didn't feel it or the sutures as epidural worked so well.
Our tiny bundle has no name yet. She had to have 6 blood sugar checks with a night of skin to skin so expected that all last night again. 3 nights of no sleep arghh, but she is worth it. Breast feeding well. Won't go down in moses basket now. Midwife done first visit and all ok. Here she is....

Sorry if ts long but it is worth telling lol
