Hi everyone. Ive just set up my crib... Too exciting and put in my bedding (sheet, bumper, duvet) but now I'm questioning it...should I be using a bumper? And unless im wrong newborns dont use duvets so what's the point in having it? It was a crib bale I bought and I didn't really think about it but now it's set up im wondering! What are u gonna be putting as bedding in your crib? So confused x

I had a bale for DS, and I did use the bumper.

He's used the duvet since he was a year old.

I didn't get a bale for DD. She has a sheet on the mattress, and a sleeping bag which she's just big enough now to use. She was just under a blanket.

Crib bales are money-grabbing sales, that's all.

They look gorgeous, and seem like a good deal, but they're essentially useless, especially for the first year xx

I've got sleeping bags for when baby is big enough, but I'm just going to use cellular blankets at first I think. The cot bedding said not to be used on babies under one so its in there just to make the nursery look finished at the moment and we bought the air wrap bumpers to be on the safe side, well mil did I should say. She'll be in a bedside crib until 6 months hopefully as we can't fit the cot bed in our room xx

Tri hopping. IMO, crib bales are for decoration only, seeing as you aren't supposed to use anything in them for well over a year. My 15 monther has a plain white sheet down and currently no sleeping bag or blankets (it's still 24℃ at 2am so no need). When it's not so warm he has a 1 or 2.5 tog sleeping bag, but that's all.

Fitted sheets, cellulars and a grobag for when he's big enough. Not keen on bumpers cus of the risks and don't much see the point in them tbh! Never heard of a bale and ds is only going under a duvet in the next couple of months as he's more than capable of taking it off his face if needs be.

Thanks everyone. I def won't use it then, ive got blankets so I'll just use a sheet and them. Thanks x

Im going to use waterproof sheet to protect mattress and a fitted top sheet and cellular small blankets in our cot bed xx

Our little boy slept with just a sheet on the mattress and then swaddles and blankets as needed until he was ready for a grobag.

He has a duvet now and we use an air wrap mesh bumper with him as he does wriggle a lot and has got arms and legs stuck before.

I Just used sheets and cellular blankets for the first 3 months then I got LO a 0-6 month sleepbag instead. My daughter is 20 months now and I am only just going to get her a duvet now x
