Hi everyone

I've been on baby aspirin since start of my pregnancy and with my first pregnancy I stopped it at 36 weeks, i have a risk of going into premature labour due to having operation on my cervix due to pre cancer cells so my cervix is shorter, I'm due to see consultant next week but bit concerned if I'm still taking aspirin and go into early labour prior to 36/37 weeks what are the risks?
Thanks

Lisa

Hi Lisa

I took it with my first pregnancy as well. As far as I'm aware, the risk is bleeding during labour. So if you had a haemorrhage or a c-section, there's a small chance you'll bleed a little more than if you weren't on the aspirin as it thins your blood.

That said, if you're on the aspirin due to a blood clotting issue that's caused miscarriages etc before, I'd maybe speak to a medical professional about the decision to stop in case there could be issues xx
