My baby gets very angry and grabby just before he latches on, and it bloody hurts when he catches my nipple!!! I can pin one arm under him but the arm on top I'm struggling with - what techniques do you use??
Snap! Midwife showed me could pull his arm into baby grow so its not in the sleeve or swaddled with muslin. I'm still working on. The right latch at day 6 still with pain, getting oh to hold down Los arm during the day. He's a thrasher!
Not sure how much that helps but I'm in the same boat!
Yeah I am, he gets so.... Excitable, as soon as the boob is close that his arm is going EVERYWHERE! He messes about and won't latch straight away too, almost working himself up to the event....!!
I did have some sleep suits with scratch mitts built in which were ace, but the majority don't have them which is poo
Hmmm, I just used to hold back of his neck and do it quickly.
He still claws at me and pings bra strap when feeding, they are little monkeys. This time round i only had integrated scratch mitts as i learn my lesson with my first.
I got told a brilliant tip at my breast feeding group. Basically if they have a long sleeve top or baby grow on, pull it over his arm and grip the sleeve with your teeth this keeps it away from your breasts then you can easily drop it once he is on!
Got shown by midwife how to hold his lower arm around edge of my boob and cup my boob with same hand ready to 'shove him on' its helped with that hand and I'm getting quicker and quicker thankfully as pain gets less and less nervous to shove him on. Hope it's going ok x
