Are you supposed to see someone at 16wks if 1st baby?

Hi all,

Im new to the forum and this is my first baby. I have been reading the forum and people have mentioned that they have an appointment at 16wks. This hasnt been mentioned to me at all.
I saw them at 12wks for a scan and they took d/s bloods and normal bloods ( I am very needle phobic so they only had 1 shot at getting them).
My next appointment isnt til I'm just gone 20 wks for another sca which was sent in the post and wasnt made by me.

Im just a bit confused as dont have anyone to talk to and dont really see any one except clients at work. We dont have neighbours as We have a farm.

Do u have a number to contact ur midwife? Maybe give her a ring?

I had a 16 week appointment, it was with the midwife in the doctors surgery, rathar than the scan which was at the hospital. I had to make the appointment separately but luckily my midwife had the forethought to write down all the appointments i'm meant to have so i can keep track;
First appointment - approx 6-8 weeks
10week midwife
12 week scan
16 week midwife
20 week scan
25 week midwife
28 week midwife
31 week midwife
34 week midwife
36 week midwife
38 week midwife
40 week midwife

I know every areas different but i think something like this is the standard, then there maybe more if you are high risk etc

i moved back to ireland so i don't see anyone again tilll 20 weeks... but when i was living in the uk, midwife told me she would be seeing me at 16 weeks.

maybe give her a call and see what she recommends!

I'm sure i had one at 16 weeks, but i had to ring and arrange it with the surgery myself nearer the time rather than booking it in with the midwife. Give your mw a quick call, she'll soon tell you if you need to see her

I was told 16 week midwife appt for first pregnancy but they don't automatically book it in you have to call and do it yourself! After the 16 weeks they arrange tour appointments with you and take it from there but could be different in other areas? Maybe give midwife a call x

i've just had my 16 week app and this is my 2nd baby, my mw wrote in my notes at what stage i see people either for bloods, scan or the mw i would give them a ring to ask x
