Ok since yesterday, after losing my plug, I was getting mild cramps and twinges. Nothing really happened though...
About an hour ago I started getting BAD period type pains in lower back and bump. It's always there a little bit and then will get much worse, then go back down... It's not really timetable as it's always there to some degree. It's more painful when I'm
On my feet instead of sitting... What is this?! X

Good chance it is, I had the same after I lost my plug with my second and she was born 5 hours later :)

What should I do? Sorry am freaking out as a ftm but it's never hurt like this before!
Shall I go for a walk? X

Oh I hope this is it for you, how exciting that you and Sugar could both be having your babies the same day!!!

Michelle x

FTM here as well but been to labour classed yesterday and midwife said that warm bath really helps with the pain at the first stage of labour so maybe try that? Good luck!! x

The only doubt I have is that they aren't as bad when I'm sitting... They are much worse when I'm
Up...

A bath may be lovely later on but in the very early stages can make things stop. if you want this to continue (which I am sure you do!) stay on your feet! Personally I wouldn't be brave enough to go for a walk on my own, but defo gentle movements, keep eating and drinking and see what happens ~ today could be a very exciting day xx

I braved the walk... They got much more intense and closer together... Ahhh

I'm really worried about the fact they slow down when I rest... I don't want it to be false labour!!

Contractions roll right up to the top of your bump and back down so it could be them, just very early stages. Start timing them, see if there's any pattern. You'll know when they're full blown contractions so fx they ramp up for you!

sounds a bit like how my contractions started out. It was a few hours before they were clear cut enough to time though. Definitely have a nice warm bath, it helps loads. Oh, and carb load once they start properly. You're going to need the energy!

Sounds like it. On the day I gave birth to my daughter I really wasn't sure if i was labouring either, I ended up walking to the shop because seemed like the pains had really eased off and then I went to my regular MW appointment and contractions started off whilst I was there - i had about four during the appointment. An hour later I went to hospital and a few hours after that I gave birth.

Good luck!

I just had to sit down as I was so tired and they've eased off... But I know if I get up and walk they'll start again... Will they progress until they just continue? I'm so fed up of this :(

they do tend to say that if they stop when you stop then it's more than likely false labour. See what the bath does. If it's false labour, that should stop it :)

I know that when my contractions started in earnest, there was no stopping them lol

Agreed, if its going up and down in intensity then likely its false labour. Have a bath, that will let you know because if its real labour they won't stop x

I got really bad period pains and backache at 6pm on a Thursday night and they turned into proper contractions at 1am on the Friday morning so they could still turn into the real deal, don't feel disheartened yet hun x

Thanks ladies. After another walk they fizzled out again. I laid on the bed to watch a film and relax for a bit and they came back, less crampy in between and more intense, building and going up my belly, then going away. Currently every 6-8 minutes, lasting about 45seconds. Fingers crossed they get worse!! X
