Hi all,

I'm currently 38w pregnant with my first baby. All FTM's I know went overdue and the thought of it is stressing me out!

Was just wondering how many weeks pregnant you were when you gave birth to your first?

Thanks :)

Nope not all first babies are late.

One of my close friends baby was 3 weeks early, my cousins baby was a week early and my best friends baby was born on its due date.

Due dates are only estimates anyway and can be as much as 2/3 weeks off so don't put too much emphasis on the date you've been given! X

My little boy was 40 + 10 and I was induced. He is my first. My sisters little girl (her first) was born 2 and a half weeks early xxx

A quick count-up of all the people I know with one (or more) children and the majority were overdue.

I was 9 days late in the end but longest was SIL who was 11 days overdue with her first.

Everyone else I know were a few days overdue.

However my other SIL was 2 weeks early with her first and a good friend a week early with her only child.

You never can tell so I wouldn't bank on it going one way or another.

X

Thanks ladies, I know it's only an estimate but it's still comforting to know of a few early ones! I'm bouncing on my birth ball as we speak lol x

My first was 3 days early (5 days if u go by the hospital dates) x

39 weeks.

My brother and I were both premature, as were my brother-in-law's two.

The thought of going over majorly depresses me! I was 9 days early (my mums first) I'm hoping I'm the same! I'm already bored and fed up and want her here :-)

My first was 3 weeks early, he was 37+1, I actually went into labour the day before so it was like the timer went 'ping, fully cooked' and he got out :) My mum was 4, 5 and 6 weeks early with us 3 so I'm also expecting to be early with this one, although knowing my luck I'll be 2 weeks over :) With my friends it's a real mixture some were up to 3 weeks early with their first but most were a few days early or a few days over xxx

I was induced at 41+5 and baby born 41+6 - first baby.

Going overdue was awful, you have your due date in your mind for so long and when it comes and goes with no baby it really messes with your head!

My first was 36+4, was a bit shocked when my waters broke early but was relieved I missed out the dreaded last few weeks dragging on. x

Loving all the stories ladies! Feeling a bit more positive - dani I feel exactly the same as you!!

My sister went 10 days over, my friend was 9 days over and my other friend was induced at two weeks over :/

I just hate the not knowing! I feel like I can't plan anything, just incase I'm in labour!!! X

I've posted in the May mummies thread, but I'll add here as well if you don't mind. :)

My due date with my son was 2nd July by menstrual date or 28th June by 12wk scan date. He came on 24th June, so either 8 days early (38+6) or 4 days early (39+3) depending on which due date your consider official. Back then in 2010, my hospital used the menstrual date if your scan indicated development was less than a week either side, but now they always use the 12wk scan result for the due date.

Same here CherryBelly. I think the longer over 40 weeks I go the more agitated about the birth I'll get so I'm hoping that if nothing's happened by the time I'm 40 weeks I'll be able to get a sweep or something. I know they say babies are full term between 37 and 42 weeks but I have to leave home when I'm 38 weeks and really don't wanna be away for 4 weeks with no home comforts around me or anything!! Most stories I have heard about first babies have been really overdue or like 5/6 weeks early!

My first was born 40+11 by scan date, 40+5 by my dates. Expecting to go over again this time too. My sister was 41weeks. I was born at 32 weeks (twins) and DH was born at 36 weeks, so didn't go the same as family lol xx

My daughter was born at 36+2, but this was an emergency section following a failed induction for pre-eclampsia. My sister is currently 41 weeks with no sign of her baby arriving any time soon. It must be awful waiting so long (and she does look so tired, I really feel for her), but I certainly would have chosen to be overdue if it meant I could have laboured naturally and without too many complications.
