Just moved LO onto the aptimal follow on and it's consistency seems do different! It says 7oz water to 7 scoops so I'm assuming it's the same for less 4oz to 4 scoops etc! But most of the time it looks as tho it doesn't nix properly?! Like a silky look on LO chin! I'm probably not explaining this very well! But has anyone else noticed this?! X

i got marley the cow&gate follow on (a readymade one) when i was out, as id forgot the milk. when i tipped it into the bottle it did look a bit creamier, like almost velvet? it didnt really agree with him (he threw it all up after an hour or so!), so now i just keep him on the c&g normal one! i know they're not the same milks but maybe its a thing with the follow-on ones? maybe the other mums can help more!

Personally I don't like follow on as its taste more watery n it says it contains all this iron n nuteron (sp?) But if your baby is on a balanced diet they don't need that extra. For me the cow n gate, stage on is nice n creamy compered to follow on, n Noa didn't settle aswell on it.

thats why ive kept lo on normal one! just make sure he gets a balanced and varied diet! =)

Ive put alanna onto aptamil follow on, and yeah it does have a funny consistancy! (especially as she was on anti reflux stuff before that was thivk as double cream LOL) I found it mixes a little better if i make it warm (rather than room temperature, so for like 6ox ill do 4oz of fridge cold water, then 2oz of boiling water and it goes the right temperature) but it still has a bit of a velvet texture, i think its just the formula lol

I use Aptamil follow on for my lo and have had no problems with it although I was using it along with bf so not exclusively. I would have been reluctant to go to the first stage milks though as you can't collect clubcard or advantage card points with them (and I am stingey). Haha. I have now decided to stop bf'ing altogether and will be moving him onto cows milk soon as he should def be getting all his nutrients from his diet now he's approaching a year.
Hope this makes sense.

You don't get points n its illegal to advert first stage, that's why they came up with follow on, to benefit thwmself trough adverts n clubpoints, no really benefit to the baby. I bought follow on but then I looked in to it n changed straight back.

I know that the advertising of milk for babies over 6 months is a marketing ploy but there is no harm in me getting some of the benefits of the points while my baby gets everything he needs too. There is no need to change to follow on if you are happy with firststage milk but if it suits the baby why not? Good luck with whatever you decide

Thanks everyone for your comments! It just takes more mixing to get rid of the powder!? And it's just different, preferred first stage! LO doesn't seem fussed! Isobel how come u changed back? Is first stage better? He does have a good balanced diet of food! Just don't know what to do about the formula now?! :-/ x

I changed back as the stage 1 was a lot creamier n also I think its stupid of them to come up with a follow on advertising it as you need to buy it as its iron n stuff in it, but a baby with good diet is absolutly fine on stage 1. I wanted Noa to have the creamier one as I think its more filling.
It's not bad in any way to give follow on, its just not necessary xx u give what u r comfterble with n twhat Lo likes xx

Thanks Isobel! I might just go back to first stage then, if nothing else it looked and mixed better xx

Aw thanks very much! See HV week in thurs so will have a chat about it! X
