Anyone used one of those home fertility tests?

Is the home fertility tests same as ovulation tests?
The fertility test i just ordered checks both men and women on a very basic level.
So the guy gets his sperm count checked.
The womens test isn't the same as an OPK.
OPKs test for LH which surges to cause a mature egg to be released.
The fertility test checks for FSH which is the hormone that makes the egg follicle mature in the first place.
A women can have an LH surge, but if there is no mature egg there, then no egg will be released even if your OPKs tests positive.

Not cheap at £30, but how do you put a price on peace of mind
Plus we might save that much on BFN HPTs if we have a problem we don't know about

Me and my OH have taken these tests. I have a child already from previous relationship and we have been trying for 7 months now. Mine came back as ok, but his have come back negative 
Hoping to get to doc's soon for some proper tests. There a couple of ladies on here that have used these tests i believe. If you haven't been trying for very long then i would say they could cause unnessacary worry as most docs won't test for fertility issues for at least 1 year some nearer 2 years. We were warned by a doc that OH could have a problem in the future trying for children which is why after 6 months of trying we decided to take these tests. Waiting on more in depth tests to tell us exactly what is going on and what our options may be. Good luck with your tests let us know how u get on with them. x

We got one for my OH to try because we know I OV but so we wanted to rule him out as a potential problem because we've been TTC since December 09.
His came back very very very positive thanks goodness!

I've been lead to believe that you can actually take the test result to the doctor if it is negative and avoid waiting the 1-2 years wait, which is based on the assumption that there is nothing wrong. If you know something is wrong, then you'll get seen to asap as with any medical condition.
I haven't got mine through yet, but will be testing asap - unless AF doesn't show ofcourse which would make the tests kind of redundant

you know what its interesting i think to do the test but i for one am a of the mind what i dont know cant hurt me and when the time comes that something needs tobe done then i will do it!! but good luck hun if you want to know then you can know!! xxxx
Maybe it's just impatience - i am really very impatient 
- but i'd hate to get to the end of 2 years and get told that it was something i could have known right from the start and might have taken no big effort to fix.

so we went to the docs and it was the same result...5mil count instead of the normal 20mil for men.
These are good things for peace of mind, but i like to keep it up to the docs to test for these things. I have been using ovulation tests for over a year now with no joy, went to the docs and turns out i havent been ovulating at all and ive been getting positive home OPK's.
Just be prepared, it can be quite a hit when its not the answer your wanting.
