Think it's similar to Pre-Seed (possibly with extra Calcium & Magnesium ions?) but the thing is they sell this one in Boots.

Had to force myself to walk away from it this month as I want to leave everything in the hands of fate/nature, but am thinking for future cycles I could be tempted.

If anyone has had any positive/negative experience of this particular brand, I'd be interested to hear :)

Also, how it is supposed to be applied, as there didn't seem to be an applicator in the box?

Ooh in boots? I tried preseed and actually have only ever conceived when not using it so may give this one a go

It comes in a tube, and unlike Preseed which has applicators this one you just apply with your finger so you can use as much or as little as you need.

I have used both and they are very similair, I ran out of applicators with my preseed so just use my finger as well, both seem to work equally the same.

Hi Vicky - Thanks for the info!

Is Conceive Plus quite runny, or just gloopy? Trying to find something that wouldn't scare my OH (runny would for sure! :D and applicators are a no no too!)

MrsMc - yep, in Boots it was about £15 so quite pricey (hence I wanted to find out more before getting it! :) )

Both are quite runny compared to normal lubes its so the sperm can survive in it.. It's one of those things where less is more, I usually put some on prior to sex, most of the time DH doesn't even know I have used it .

I just pick some up in Boots yesterday. A bit of a spur of the moment decision because it was there. I did quickly have a search for reviews on my phone before buying it. I found one review that compared pre-seed and concieve plus side by side.

The main difference seems to be in the pH values of the 2. The pre-seed came out slightly more acidid than neutral and the concieve plus is slightly more alkaline. Since sperm is slightly alkaline, the link above suggests that the concieve plus should give a better result than pre-seed.

Hope that's helpful.

I'm currently away overnight on a training course, so planning to try out the concieve plus tomorrow night when I get home, hopefully it should be fun, if it's not too messy!

I'm not sure that i'd agree with a more "sperm like" pH being necessarily more beneficial.

I'm under the impression that the acidic conditions in the vagina are what help to navigate the sperm cells towards the entrance of the cervix as they seek more favourable conditions.

If the conditions in the vagina are nice and cosy for the sperm, maybe they would be less likely to seek refuge in the cervix?

Just a thought :)

I agree with Louise, Thats certainly the message that came across on the great sperm race xx

That's interesting, this is just what I found on a quick search on my phone while stood in Boots, but it seemed sensible. Maybe making things more alkaline helps the sperm to survive longer giving them a better chance to eventually make it, but your point about them wanting to get out of an acidic environment makes sense too. Both products get posts about BFPs. It would be interesting to see which produces more boys or girls? Since boy sperm die quicker maybe the alkaline environment will help to have a boy?
