Anyone know any inside info about tax credits?

This is a long shot but have you thought about threatening them with going to the press over it? Sometimes being over dramatic works. My dad has had a very bad time with his benefits recently basically he got jumped by a group of youths who shattered his leg and knee songs couldn't work as soon as he his ops the benefits were saying he could job seek, he can't even stand for more than 15minutes without aching and still due more surgery. He has been in a similar situation and had to appeal his benefits and it took a while, not sure of time length, but it did get resolved but needless to say he has had problem after problem with hrmc. Bloody useless most of the time. I really hope you get sorted soon x
