Ive wanted a tropical fish tank for ages, nothing too big - something quite contemporary I can keep just a small shoal of small colourful fish.

Ive seen this

http://www.aquariumsdelivered.co.uk/cat ... p-811.html

And absolutely love the look of it, but it doesn't say anywhere whether its suitable for tropical fish?

If anyone keeps fish....what do you think?

Thanks :)

It looks like it will be suitable hun because it has heating built into it. Looks fab by the way.

When I lived at the *cough* old flat 'twathead' kept them. I think they were one of the things that kept me sane in the end as I found them really relaxing to look at.
Mind you I wish I had kept a crocodile in the bathroom and locked him in with it...I am sure that they would have got on great
Ahhhhh that's better...out with the anger...

Seriously, they are lovely to keep, totally recommend them. Keep us updated :D

I would have thought so as it has a heater with it.

I must say that is a cool aquarium, didnt know you could get anything like that. But it has been a couple of years since me and OH have kept any fish.
Wont show him tho as i am sure he will want one

You will have to post pics if you get one :D

hey hun i have tropical fish here and that is fine iv just check with my brother who has always had them and he said that that was fine for them i dont know a lot but he said so, enjoy it

it looks fab hun

Thanks everyone :)

I'm definitely going to get that one then, wont be for a few weeks yet as will have to save up for it (£250  ) but I think it will be well worth it :)

haha Kaz you crack me up :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

yep that's perfect for tropical fish!

we have 3 tanks at the moment :D

Just some points about that tank (only my opinion as someone who's kept everything from goldfish to a full marine reef tank):

*Horrendously expensive for what it is
*Maximum amount of fish that could be sustained healthly is 5" total (ie. 5 x 1" fish, 10 x 1/2" fish, etc.)
*Nothing larger than 2" as it would have difficulty turning round
*Very difficult to clean properly

For £250 there are far better tanks IMO, such as this or this and I would suggest going for a more standard tank shape. As a general guideline you shouldn't have more than 1" of fish per gallon of tank volume so a larger tank means more fish :D It also means the tank is a more stable environment for the fish which means less chance of dead fishys. As for fish here are a few types that I would suggest looking at:

Neon Tetras
Glowlight Tetras
Malawi Cichlids
Ram Cichlid
Rosy Barbs
Tiger Barbs
Black Ruby Barbs
Dwarf Gourami
Guppies
Kribensis
Panda Corys

I used to be a very active member of a very good fish forum that deals with all types of fishkeeping (don't know if i'm allowed to say what it is), they are very helpful if you have any questions or feel free to ask me.

Hope this hasn't come across as a lecture but it stems from years of dealing with people cramming fish into small tanks then asking for help as they are all dying

Thanks for the info muppetdaddy its appreciated......I did wonder about the size but thought it might be ok for really small fish....dont want to be cruel though so I will look around for a bigger tank :) Theres a Blooms centre near us that we were wandering around the other day and had a look in their waterworld section....which was what inspired me to go for this as Ive wanted ickle fishes for aaaaaaages!
They have some excellent tanks in there pretty cheaply, some really cool looking round ones that are much bigger.

Thanks again :)

The picture frame tank would be fine for a small shoal of neon tetras but would still look empty IMO.

The round ones you mention are possibly BiOrbs and they are very cool tanks and allow a better choice of fish, also the fact they are bubble shaped makes the fish look bigger and thus the tank looks fuller.

You could get a BiOrb tank, fish and all the bits for the same price as that picture frame tank, I know which i'd pick :)
