Anyone get your period back while still doing night feeds?

I can't believe I'm actually hoping for a period! I'm impatient to TTC again but although LO loves her solids she is still a frequent feeder day and night so I have a feeling it could be a long wait. I know dropping night feeds often kick starts things but I can't imagine LO giving up night feeds willingly any time soon.

Have any of you ladies gotten your cycles back while still night feeding?

I've had periods back quite soon after mine. And got pregnant before periods returned while EBF when baby was 4 months. Maybe just keep trying even before your cycles return? You never know x

We EBF but still got my periods back when DS was 8 weeks old! :/

Got mine at the weekend and LO is 6 weeks, BF around 90% of feeds :-(

I ebf and got mine about 6 weeks If I remember right x

Thanks girls. It's not fair you all got your periods back so early when you didn't want them! I should add LO is 8 months now and eats solids well but she is still feeding regularly at night.

I night weaned my ds when he was nearly 8 months and fell pregnant with my dd when he was 9 months! I actually found the night weaning far easier than I ever imagined.
My dd is now 8 months and my period hasnt returned yet!

Nat, how did you night wean?
My 8.5 month old still wakes once or twice for milk.
No periods here yet and quite glad. Got the two babies I love and no more for me, x

I got mine back at about 10 months when LO was still waking up once/twice a night.

LO is 8 months but wakes at least 2 or 3 times a night to feed. The last 3 weeks or so she has gone back to more like 5 times a night whichI think might to be to do with teething. I find it hard to see me gettting my period back before she cuts down a lot on her feeds.

Its interesting that a lot of 8 month old seems to be waking a lot in the night - I think it is just generally a time when they are more aware of things and apparently separation anxiety is at its worst around 9 months so this could be why.

When I night weaned my son he was nearly 8 months - he already slept in his own room at this time but woke 3 or 4 times in the night. He was a very good eater and loved his solids. Unfortunately its not easy but its important to be consistent - When my ds woke I waited 5-10 minutes to see if he would self settle (I was surprised that sometimes by the time it got to 10 mins he was quiet again! If this didn't work I would go into his room so he knew I was there, tell him it was time to sleep he didn't have a dummy but he did have a comfort blankie which I started giving him. Within days of doing this he self settle and started sleeping a good 9-11 hours uninterrupted at night time. Hes 26 months and to this day still sleeps with his comfort blankie, in fact as soon as he tired he finds it and starts to suck his thumb - great cue that its time for a nap. Personally for me I felt like it was time for the night feeds to end and he took to sleeping through the night well - I'm sure that this isn't right for every baby. On the down side stopping the night feeds really reduced my milk supply and that was probably the reason I got pregnant with my dd however I continued breastfeeding through my pregnancy and I'm tandem nursing now! Keeping saying its time to night wean my dd but need to get the determination to do it!

My lo is nearly 7mths and I'm on the process of night weaning - doing pretty much the same as Nat did. It's amazing how well it's worked so far. No sign of a period for me though! xx

My period came back when little lady was 4 months, and I'm still breastfeeding and she wakes up once, sometimes twice a night. Everyone's bodies are different :-) xx

Just thought I'd update this post for anyone who finds it with a similar question. My period came back at 8 1/2 months! LO still feeds about 3 times a night but at about 8 months stopped feeding as often in the day. She was feeding very frequently, often several times an hour during the day. Now she usually has at least an hour between feeds, often two. She also increased even more the amount of solid food she eats and increased a lot in weight, she was underweight due to issues with food allergies before this which I think is why she was such a frequent feeder. At about 8 months she also got a bit more independent. Before she liked to go to other people but always kept me in sight and would want to come back after a short time. Now she will actually choose other family members over me and sometimes spends an hour without even wondering where I am.

So every one is different but it is at least possible to get your period back with a frequent feeder. It seems like the change in frequency and amount of solid food was enough for me even though she still feeds frequently. It remains to be seen if my cycles will be regular but TTC is at least a possibility!

Interesting to hear your update. I have recently night weaned my dd now (9 months) and still no af! Although this time im tandem nursing during the day so maybe I will be af free for a while yet :) Good luck on your TTC journey xx

took 14 months for my af to come back and another 13 cycles before I conceived, I am an older mum though so could be why it took so long to get pregnant. good luck, hope you get a BFP soon x
