anyone elses family not like your babys name

me and oh have already decided on names, leo riley eden for a boy and hallè alyssia eden for a girl but my family are not really not keen and dont like hallè at all which i love and apperently think alyssia is too much like my first which is elise, but she is elise jennifer so i dont think they sound nothing alike my mums 3 granddaughters are all unusual names courtney, freya and elise so its not like halle or leo is unusual compared to the rest, are your family the same or have you choose names so that your family will like them? Do you think it matters about families opinion on names X

We didn't tell anyone our choices because we didn't want their opinions. Once the baby is born and named they can't sayanything. I like your choices! Xx

I really like those names. We had our girls name whilst TTC and since we found out we were having a girl have not told any family our choice as it'll be too late for their opinion once she is here. As long as you and OH are happy with the choice then thats all that matters xx

firstly i love ur name choices

im having my 3rd little boy and really want to call him riley although its not agreed yet as OH wont agree to anything, but my mum was not keen on the idea said it was a surname etc but over the weeks she has come to like it now but also get the odd comments from others too

someone said i should stick with more traditional names as i have a harry n a Jake so shouldnt go contemporary but i think it fits well with what i have i also had the "they have to grow up with the name too" er i now that why i chose it!!

people can be very insensitive at times, but its ur baby and ur choice everyone else will have to get over it!! xxxx

My family have all said they like the name we have chosen, to be honest even before he was conceived if it was a oy it was going to be Riven so they have had time to adjust

We had issue with the middle name, couldn;t think of one for love now money then OH blurted out how about James the other day and so now he will be called Riven James Tyers my mum doesn;t like the middle name and asked why he had to have one and I said otherwise his name sounds like a tyres shop

I think she wanted us to give him her dad's name which was ernest as a middle name, but so many people in our family wanted so many different names we went completely away from family names

I love your choices by the way sorry tangent running , at the end of the day it is your child, yes they have to live with it but by the time they get to school they will know they're name and be proud of it whatever, my first name is Kelly imagine the comments at school with that and the rhymes but I still love it and wouldn't change it..

this is why we didn't really discuss names as people always like to give their opinions. It annoys me when people say that they don't like the names chosen as you obviously do else you would not have picked them!
Just go with what you like and don't listen to anyone else but your partner

well at the moment our babe is set to be called ruby valentine ....not many like the valentine part but not sue if we will end up changing it ....if your happy with your names stick with it hun .. when my cousin named her son know one in the family was keen yet we couldnt think of him being called anything else now

I have decided to keep it to myself now though as noone seems to like the previous names we were picking! Sod them though they've had their time naming children lol it's my time, my taste, my choice.

I love your choices!!
We chose Austin as soon as we found out he was a boy, and have stuck with it.
My parents love it, OH's parents don't like it and my grandparents hate it!
Tbh, we love the name so much it doesn't matter to us what they think.
As soon as they see his little face in a couple of weeks, I'm sure all will be forgotten!
At the end of the day hun, its your baby. Only you and your OH know what is the best name for your lo.

I love those names . My mother is exactly the same. I told her we're calling our son Sebastian Edward and she spurts off all this trash about him being bullied when he goes to school or that my name is for gay people ..Instead she suggests too common names like William or Matthew, ive got no problem with those names but just looking for something a bit more unique

Ive learned to ignore them, they've had their turn to choose names and now its your turn

when pregnant with my daughter everyone hated her name LILITH SABRIEL they said it was childish dunno how is it, but anyway i kept it they even said if i named her that they would disown me lets just say thats still her name and she is 2 and a half now and my family love her to bits, they found out in there own time they had there choices to name us they choose them not us hense its our choice no one else's x choose what you want ignore them your child no-one else's x x x x
