Anyone else heard about tax credits

I was talking to a woman in the job centre today she said it had not been confirmed yet but they are maybe making it so you have to work 24 hours before you are entitled to tax credits instead of 16 hours! Just in time for me getting it...typical!

Thinks are hard as it is and their making things alot harder. Just think o all the single mums out there who will be struggling even more if they do that. It will be hard to work 24 hours if you have kids and with out tax credits its a struggle. xxx

We dont get tax credits as we don't qualify!

Have they really thought this through? People are being laid off every day. Does this mean the people working part time have to go to their employer and ask to have their hours increased to 24? There isn't the money there to do this!?

god how confusing. its all a load of crap isnt it. if you work at all i think that you should be rewarded for it. at least youre making an effort! x

noooooo, I work 18.5 hours. Would this mean we wouldnt get any support for childcare costs? on my current hours its £90 per week. We cant afford that without the tax credits so Id have to quit my job. Isnt that the exact situation they are looking to avoid. I thought it would "always pay to work" pfffft!

This is 1st I've heard of it but from what I've read on Internet it's only for couples with children and only 1 parent will have to work 24 hours. So if u work part time and ur partner works full time it won't change. If ur a single parent it won't change either xx

My bf only works 14 hours at the min he could of maybe asked for the extra 2 hours to get it to 16 but not 24...i don't work anymore so we are gonna be nackered xx

^^ I think if you dont work at all then he would have to work at least 24 hours per week to get anything anyway

If they don't change it we will get it for 16 hours...my mam used to get it when she worked 16 hours x

but is your mum single or her OH working more? it says on the paperwork if youre applying as a couple you BOTH have to work at least 16 hours per week.

At the time my dad wasn't working and she was just doing 16 hours. Confused lol xx

really?? they said that wouldnt be allowed. Sometimes I think these people dont know their arse from their elbow! Maybe you dont get working tax credits but theres something else?

Yeah cos my mam told me to get OH working 16 hours so we could get it too. Yeah theres income support but i've been told its not as much as tax credits. Its getting harder and harder to get by even when working xx

Well I was just told that if I wanted to come back to another job at my place as mine is being made redundant, there will be a 20 hour post for me! I may have to beg for another 4 hours if that's the case!!

well my ex worked over 16 hours and i stayed at home with the children and we got tax credits i thought it only paid to be working full time and tax credits rather than part time and tax credits

Im so annoyed, Ive never claimed anything in my life until LO was born last year and now all this happens

Im gonna pick up my avon business I think its the only way!!
