Another of the more thrilling sideeffects of pregnancy surfaced with my wife at the weekend. She is sooo uncomfortable with piles - and I would just like to see if any of you have had it, and tried something to alleviate that really worked.
It might be one of those things that wont really go away, but would like to see if anyone has any tips

Thank you all once again!

I dont think i actually got piles, but sorry for TMI it was hard to go to the loo etc..

i found eating cereal each morning really has helped this.. i used to always have toast, now i eat wheatabix or cheerios! and its kept everything moving as it should..

maybe try asking m/w.. you can use most things from chemist when pregnant *as far as i know* just ask behind counter and they'll advise you correctly...

hope shes ok, these things are horrible!

I agree with charlotte on the cheerios!! They will keep her nice and regular! Worked for me and I'm now pile free at 39 weeks after having a few in week 34, yay!

Also water water water! At least 6 large glasses/pints a day, also pharmacy can give you some soothing cream if necessary, the most importaint thing is to keep things "soft" so lots of fiber water and fruit!!

I hope the little buggers leave her alone!

Thanks Charlotte and Cleo - will pass on the foody tips. Cleo - good to hear that getting them doesnt mean having them to the end of the pregnancy - will use this to boost her spirits!!

Thanks again

ooh this happened to me and i can only say i was so devestated, i think i cried for a week!

i first got them at 24weeks- i got 1... at 28weeks i got about 4 and i was so upset i felt like i didnt want to have any birth other than a c-section as i was so scared id push all my intestines out, i really felt like theyd ruined my whole pregnancy!! i even kept crying at work and everything i was so upset!

anyway i can say now that i am free of them!! i told the mw and she rang the gp and got me some cream, also i know its sounds 'awful' but i just didnt 'strain' to go to the loo. i just waited til it was 'ready' omg i now that sounds awful and i didnt spend a few weeks waddling but i really feel that helped alot!! because since iv been doing that they continued to improve...i dont know if that good advice but i feel it helped me and i really felt at one point id never be normal down there again!

obviously lots of fibre like the girls said too so the poo is softer :rotfl:

Thank you - REALLY appreciate the advice, and I will pass it on - hopefully will get some improvement because I know it is really distressing her.

Thanks again
Jimmer
