I'm currently 37+1 and being induced for pre-eclampsia. Anyone been through this and have any positive stories? Normal delivery?

Thanks

Not with pre eclampsia but was induced (using pessary) on my due date with second baby. Had one pessary at 10am, second at 6pm. 8pm I was full on contracting at 5cm and delivered a 10lb 1oz baby naturally (but with epidural and gas and air) 4 hours later. I thought it really wasn't that bad compared with my first baby - with her waters broke 6am naturally, irregular contractions which were advanced using the induction drip stuff to regulate them. Baby was back to back with meconium in my waters and distressed for entire labour. So 18 hours later after pushing for an hour with nothing happening I was taken to theatre and delivered 8lb 8oz baby by forceps.

I'm expected to have a third large baby this time but as I 'make large babies' they aren't worried about me being huge and are just wanting to let me go naturally even though I'm on track for bigger than 10lb. So I would jump at the chance of induction now x

I was induced at 39 weeks with baby no 3. Not because of pre-eclampsia though.
Pessory went in at 7pm, nothing happened until 9.30 the next morning when contractions started but were not regular or strong. They broke my waters at 6pm, baby arrived 1hr 40 later. Normal delivery, no intervention or stitches.
It can be a long slow frustrating process, but can equally be extremely quick. It's impossible to say how it's going to go, just be prepared for a long 2 day ordeal and anything sooner is a bonus!! I found the worse thing was people messaging constantly....only tell the people you really need to the day you are going in!!!!! Good luck, it's worth it!

Thanks. I've been in hospital a few days but kept it quiet as I don't want the stress of constant messages.
I had the pessary yesterday so hope they can break my waters when I'm checked later on.

I'm ready for him to be here now.

Good luck with your induction lovely! Mine was super quick, got the pessary at 9am, contractions started at 4pm and he was here by 7:41pm! All natural, no intervention (or pain relief!), and only just had a first degree tear. All in all a very positive induction compared to most!

Also interested in this as I'm being induced in 9 days! Good to hear its not all doom and gloom :)

Afraid I'm not having the best time. Pessary removed shortly after lunch today. Due to space on labour ward I haven't yet been examined. I was having contractions but they have now stopped. So frustrated with waiting.

How are you getting on? I was induced at 38+5 due to losing waters but nothing else happening. Once the drip started my little boy was born 5 hours later. I had gas and air then some pethadine at the end. I wasn't expecting it to be so fast and also didn't realise how quickly it would get painful! The last hour was awful but as soon as he was out the pain went and I was up and about. Hope you are having cuddles!

My lovely little boy is here and beautiful. We all thought the drip wasn't working as I didn't seem to be contracting so they decided to examine me and likely to go for a section. When I was examined I had progressed . Following that it all went quite quickly. I had one dose of diamorphine and then just gas and air.

Good luck to anyone else about to be induced. Hopefully all will go well
