Sorry tmi, my waters went at 12:30 today whilst standing in bath, it was a gush but stood for a while before getting out, once out I dripped continuously then tried putting underwear on and another few big gushes all over the floor! With underwear and pad on I can't move without constant gush that I can't control!!

Please any ideas in keeping it in my pad & knickers? Don't think tampons can be used!?

Pelvic floor sort of worked for me. I used one of those jumbo pads but mine was more under my control... They treacled out at first then would gush each time I pushed and drip when I held back or didn't do anything. When I got to the hospital I asked midwife if I should push the rest of the amniotic fluid out and she said 'no, don't..' so I guess it's best to just let it run naturally and there's no problem with leaking everywhere I'm sure most people would understand.

I also think that going into labor overrides any kind of embarrassment so I'd just leak out and deal with the mess later.

good luck :-)

I bought an incontinence nappy for this scenario (Tena disposable pants!)

My yoga teacher said when her waters broke she shoved a towel between her legs & got in the car to go to the hospital.

Tesco do sell maternity bed mats which claim to cover waters breaking: http://www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-maternity-bed-mats-x5/313-1386.prd but if you're looking for something desperate, perhaps stack up a couple of maternity pads inside your undies?

p.s. good luck with the delivery!

I also rolled up a towel and put it between my legs xx

So my waters have gone but nothing else has happened / I think because I'm sat down as I'm just pouring fluid out even now! Instead of moving getting things going, gone for a pad and another cut up with tissue fingers crossed my mattress survives till I'm induced Tomoz! X

If you're desperate open up a large sheet of polythene like a black bin bag and use that as a waterproof sheet for your mattress. Then pop a couple of old towels on top to absorb the gushes. Might just save your mattress from being soaked!

maybe a newborn nappy used like a pad could help?

EDIT: just realised my answer is a bit late. Hope all is well :).
