Since i hit 21 (i'm now 24) my weight has really yo-yo'd.
I slimmed down for my wedding in June to a size 12/14 but since then i have upped a dress size to 14/16.
I have tried some diets since the wedding but my heart hasn't really been in it, plus since coming off the pill 2 months ago i think my weight has crept up even more.
I feel really uncomfortable at this size and as i'm 5'3" i don't carry the weight well. :(

Has anyone got any really good diets that actually work?

I managed to lose about a stone before my wedding by going on The Scarsdale diet which consists of mainly eating meat meat and tbh i was sooo hungry most of the time.

(btw, i don't like gyms and can't afford a membership anyway but do have a air walker at home plus can't stand salads!)

I will be so grateful if someone can recommend a good diet. xx

Swap chips for rice or pasta. Don't eat chocolate/crisps or cake - have fruit instead.

Have breakfeast - really work especially if it's shreddies or weatabix.

For dinner have a sarny and some fruit

Tea - proper cooked meal.

I would recommend the GI diet (Glucemic Index) its also recommended by Dr's / Nurses and if you get pregnant you can still follow it!

I was on it Before I got pregnant, its easy to follow and was working but then I got pregnant and used the excuse to eat what I want lol, Im going to try and get back on it after Christmas, and deffo once bubs is born

Search Google for GI diet or buy the book (2nd had from Ebay is ceapest)

Also swimming is an excellent form of exercise and its cheap!

Yeah my MIL does that one - can't for the life of me think what it's called now either! Think you have protein and no carbs one day, and then swap round the next day......I'll ask her when I speak to her  it's gonna annoy me that I can't remember

Hi, thanks for the ideas, will definitely google for the GI Diet.
Sarah_B's_mummy87 - that would be great if you could find out what that diet is called.

Thanks again girls!

Dieting makes you fat, I speak from experience after a lifetime of yo-yo ing.

However if you must do something then the GI diet combined with more exercise is going to be the best way forward.

Avoid anything restrictive or weird like food combining, point counting and Atkins.

Thanks Tattooed Lady - i have had a look at the GI diet and it looks great! I love my carbs, so think this may be a good eating plan for me. :)

Actually, when i was young my Mum was really slim(like a size 8-10), and she said it was from eating all bran for breakfast, weetabix for lunch and a healthy dinner, oh and running around after me and my 2 brothers!
I think she was following the GI diet without realising it!

My Mum and I have exactly the same body shape and metabolism so if it worked for her, hopefully it will work for me.

Comin from someone who has studied nutrition and diet. I strongly recomend avoiding unnatural diets, like atkins, red/green etc. Diet should be a life style change not a short term fix. As Tattooed lady says diets like this make you gain weight as they dont change your eating routines permanently, and all they do is mess with your metabolism, so one you stop you pile weiht on even faster.

A good diet is changing the way you eat for life in a way you can keep up, without depriving yourself of plesures. You start by taking slightly more drastic action but then adatpt it for every day livin so you can maintain your idea weight after.

Likewise starving yourself tricks you body into storing more fat, so if you dont eat enough, you actually put on more weight.

If you want some advice on how to adapt your current diet so you can lose weight and keep it up for life without calorie or point countin, feel free to drop me a PM and I can advise you.

Dont go on a 'diet' as such, just eat less of everything and drink loads and loads of water. Try going for a walk or something once a day aswell :)
