any advice on prem labour...

Hi all,

I have been in hospital until 12.30am last night due to BH/tightenings every couple of mins. Woke up on Fri morning at 3am with very strong braxton hicks and then continued to have them all day off and on (more on than off) all day Fri. got to the point Fri evening that they were so uncomfortable I called midwife and was told to go to hospital. they did a trace for an hour and I was feeling so much better at that point but it showed tightenings/contractions were coming every couple of mins. ( I really wasn't feeling them half as much at that point???) Babies heart beat was fine and he was moving around lots. They did blood tests etc and examined me... cervix still closed. They wanted me to stay in but I was desperate to go home where I would be less stressed. They have given me steroids and Ihave had a better night but only slept between 1am - 3am. Tightenings still happening but don't seem as strong so think I will prob go back in this morning to be monitored again but fingers crossed it has been a false alarm and LO will hang in there a bit longer.
So worrying because I seem so small that I can't imagine that baby can be very big if he were to be born early.

Sami if you read this I know that you had Damian early, any advice etc... would love to hear from anyone who has experienced anything similar.

Hi hun i Had Harley on wednesday at 35weeks i also had my daughter last yr at 35weeks, there are both very healthy and Harley needed no help breathing ect, just try and hang in there till 34weeks then u should be fine especialy with the steriods. all babies vary thou, there is a girl on here that had her baby at 34 weeks she was in hospital for 6weeks due to not feeding but i had Harley 5weeks prem and they wanted to send me home 7hrs later, and dont go on the size of your belly i was huge as u might see in my belly pics but Harley was only 6lb my friend had her baby last week she was tiny looked like me at 20weeks but she had a 7lb baby girl..

Thanks Dionne, I'm trying to hang in there and trying not to stress too much (easier said than done!) as I'm sure that is making tightenings or contractions worse! fingers crossed.

I have been following your progress with Harley and it is certainly keeping my spirits up. He is gorgeous... you must be very proud of them both.

Do you know if the girl you mentioned that had baby at 34 weeks and was in hospital for six weeks had had steroids?

she had bliss 6weeks prem.

i think u will be fine my mum had my lil brother 6weeks early he came straight home to, there just lil sods to feed at first thats all
