Forgot to post this last week as ive been so busy

The second one was much much better then the first one
the lady last week may have hundreds of years experiance with Maternity but she has no idea how to deliver her knowledge or how to communicate her knowledge in an intresting way or how to introduce the group to each other/ warm a crowd up.

We went away not knowing each others names and feeling like we had been though 2 hours of foraml question answer question answer
with no interaction as a group

and she was very off putting ie "I WILL NOT EVER be giving an inducation untill you our a full 2 weeks over due.
no ones getting one out of me no matter how much they moan. ladies theses days take the easy option and need to learn how to cope with pain more".
ANd i will most CERTAINLY NOT be giving it to someone BEFORE there due date some mid wifes are obviously induction happy and give them out willy nilly NOT ME

same with epidural "far to many of you jump right in and ask for them well i strongly advice you agianst it unless deemed necessary"

Pethadine should be used as a last resort and gas and air only when you our in real pain

I wasnt asking for one i rather not have huge needle stuck up me thanks  I DONT WANT INDUCING OR EPIDURAL AT ALL but WOW she lost her rag :?
just wanted to ask if your baby is well over fundal height at full term is inducation possible if the babies not showing signs of moving out
and can you have one before you due date as i know some of the girls on here have had it 38 /39 weeks

she bit my head off
im new to all this and didnt know why /when/ where inducing happens so i was just wondering what goes on but she made me feel like
this smallfor asking

AND THIS WEEKS FANTASITC
A diffrent lady took this one :D
and she got everybody talking sharing concerns worries and experiances. 8)

we did small group work and got to know each other :D
and she communicated her knowledage very well and in an interesting way that grabbed your attention.

we did a lot of giggiling and bonding over thoughts on labour and pain relife .

i leanrt so much this week and i have a much clearer understanding of things and know more about what i would like ,want in my birthing plan
And more of what to expect during labour, the pros and cons of all the pain relife and how to be flexable with that plan.

she also told me its very rare that 2 mum fight over the birthing pool
My hospital only has one and i was concerned id not be able to use it

she said i can bring my own gym ball in and tens machine (OF COURSE NOT IN THE POOL  ) as their balls are wearing out and they dont have tens machines at the hospital.

good to now all this as i can prepare what i need to take with me

And she made me feel better about mabye using the birthing center 40 min drive away from me
as i had been made to feel by my manager at work that id be putting my baby at risk not being at hospital.
The Mid wife said there is no need for concen and an ambulance will transfer you to Pembury and its not that far way that it will harm you our the baby. :D

this second lady is taking next weeks class all about breast feeiding im glad its her not misery bags from last week :rotfl:

Blimey, the first one sounds like a right battle-axe!!!! And what she said about inductions only being offered at 2 weeks overdue - that is assuming you've had an uncomplicated pregnancy, no previous problems/ c/sections etc, and that there isn't any concern over the baby!!!

I can sort of understand what she said about epidurals because I don't think one did my first labour any favours (it was great to be rid of the horrible pain but it slowed my contractions) but I really don't see what is wrong with gas and air - it's lovely stuff!!! They took it off me when I was pushing though as apparently it was distracting me - that wasn't nice.....

And if she then asked about concerns and fears, I think I'd be tempted to say "yeah, having a midwife like you at my birth!!!"

Glad the second one was better!

The first midwife sounds a bit victorian! She's the last person on earth you'd want to see when in labour!

Glad the second class was better. The midwife sounds a lot nicer :D

I'd talk to your own MW about the whole induction thing tbh. I think you'll get better answers from her.

TBH unless there is a real reason they don't like to induct too soon. It does bother me they seem happy to book people in for a date before they have even really gone overdue though. Or book them in at 10 past overdue when there are still another 4 left. I'll be hanging on as long as possible if both Bump and myself are doing ok. They can induce me at 14 days over and not before. Due dates are not an exact science and baby can arrive when s/he is ready afaia concerned

And listen to the MW on the course over your manager about the safety of birthing centres  Really, they are no less safe and if you've had a healthy pregnancy there is no reason to not go to one to give birth. Same with going to a MW led unit over a consultant led one. Unless they have cause for concern you should be fine staying away from hospital :)

I am glad you had such a positive experience after the first class. What a right old grump! I bet she has never even given birth!!! Opting for the easy option my arse!
Glad you are feeling more optimisitic, hope the BF class is fun and informative. I found the Sure Start ones really helpful.

Wow that first one sounds like my MIL! She's an ex hospital matron and reckons she 'never felt a single pain when she gave birth to her two, they just dropped out!' Glad you fun at the second class though.

glad your second class was better.

we had one session 12-4 on easter sunday, it was hot and 20 of us in a room and a girl fainted. Was a question and answer session and i learnt nowt !
