So my LO is now on a 8oz bottle at 7am and baby porridge mixed with 2oz formula and 5tsps a fruit puree at 8am.
He then has a 8oz bottle at 11am and about 8 tsps of single veg puree, then he has a 8oz bottle at 3pm and another 8 tsps of same veg he had at lunch (changing this veg every few days).
He has his bedtime bottle at 6pm (8oz) and 9pm dreamfeed of about 6oz, this has gone up from 2oz. He woke the other night at 3am wanting a feed which is why Ive now upped his dream feed and he's back to sleeping through.

Where do I go from here? I'm not introducing any meats until 6 month... Should I stick with what I'm what I'm doing for now and increase solid amounts every few days? I'm confused!! When will he drop milk feeds? I Thought they were supposed to drop feeds as they have more solids but he's increased milk now that he's having solids!

Xxx

I would just stick with what your doing and increase foods?

Perhaps in the afternoon or before bed if hes a bit hungry give a snack?

Jackson used to get hungrier during gorwth spurts and would sometimes take a bit of porridge before his bottle? Or perhaps give him more day snacks like little yoghurts?

He wont signifcantly drop bottles until hes having like proper 3 meals and snacks but he should be dropping oz somewhere. Perhaps his appetite is growing due to being introduced to the new foods. Id just increase as you are and maybe drop his oz by 1 at a time for each bottle, see how you get on?

Its all trial and error really.

Thanks hun.... Feel like I'm not doing it right lol.
I go back to work when he's 6 month so im trying to get him used to solids so that his childminder has some sort of routine to follow xxx

He should not be dropping milk at all before 6 months and even after 6 months, milk should still be the main part of his diet and he needs at least 21oz of milk per 24 hours. Most babies should have around 24-30oz of milk a day with solids adding to that before 12 months.

Oh didnt see he was under 6m. Yes in that case dont drop the ozs, but you can increase and add snacks.

xxx

I looked through my nephews' food diary from nursery the other day (might be an idea to purchase so your childminder could write it down what's been offered and what's been eaten?) and well they have one of these books and it tells them about their moods but mainly about the foods that have been offered and whether they've been eating them.. He went about when he was 8 months or so and he was quite a keen eater but he still has days where he had been offered the food and just didn't eat much of it! So am sure your childminder isn't alienate with feeding babies and making slight adjustments at that age and get one of them books so she can just write it down for you :)

He is having 38oz and his purées so rcen at 6 month he will be having over 21oz in 24 hours.. I'm not going to drop any milk im going to increase his solids at 6 months and let him drop his milk himself over time I think! is that how your supposed to do it?? So much conflicting advice out there xxx

That's a good idea thanks :) I hate the fact that the childminder will be Doing all the feeding and not me :( xxx

It sounds like you're doing the right thing. Just keep giving me his milk as normal and he will cut it down himself nearer to 1 year old. You may end up wasting milk as he stops finishing bottles but it's the only way to make sure he's happy with both the milk and food quantities

Thank you... Yeah I was thinking it's going to be a waste of milk but it's better he wastes milk than be hungry! Xxx

Colleen, how old is your lo. I wanted to check cos my lo is on porridge and baby rice and she's 20 weeks and I wad looking at your feeding schedule xx

He's 20 week as well :)
He's been having 8oz milk at 7am
Porridge 8.30am
8oz at 11am
Veg puree at 12.30pm
8oz at 3pm
Veg puree at 4.30pm
9oz at 6.30pm
