Nurse just rang with my amh blood result. I am 43 and its 1.3

Is there still a chance for me or is it game over?

IVF with egg donor is 7K and I just haven't got that kind of money

Feel sad and old :-(

From Dr.Google "AMH by the Numbers. Normal AMH levels (1.5 to 4.0 ng/ml) are associated with increased fertility and better response rates to fertility treatments. Low–Normal AMH levels (1.0 to 1.5 ng/ml) are associated with decreased ovarian reserve but chances can still be good for pregnancy outcomes."

So I think you're still in a good place for treatment butterfly, I don't think it's donor egg territory yet! What did the doctor say to you about the results? :)

They said i would have a very low success rate with my own eggs for ivf. I cant afford ivf anyway. With or without my own eggs. I am hoping i still have a chance naturally. The nurse did say it was average for my age. So i guess i have as nuch chance as any other 43 year old. I have ordered some vitamins today - vit d, coq10, evening primrose in the hope i can improve the quality of what eggs i have.

You do still have a chance, I've seen other women on here conceive naturally with very low numbers. Also, remember that low amh indicates low egg reserve but doesn't necessarily mean the quality is bad. I have excellent amh for my age (last tested at almost 45 and it was 11.something but my egg quality is poor).

If you do end up having to do IVF, all I would say is don't leave it too long if you want to use own eggs. And have a look at clinics abroad, there are great clinics in Greece, Spain and Czech Repuplic, own egg IVF starts at around 3,000 Euros and donor egg IVF starts at around 5,000 Euros, these costs don't include medication.

Thanks Syd. How does it work with appointments with clinics abroad? And how do i find a good clinic?

Also how do they measure egg quality is that fsh? I am so confused with my fsh level. My numbers are all over the place. First time 13.9 then 10.3 and at fertility clinic they said 6.5 dont understand how it can change so much. The 13.9 and 6.5 both done on cd 3

Unfortunately you can't measure egg quality at all, you can only get an idea of egg reserves through things like amh and antral follicle scan. When I say my egg quality is poor, I'm just assuming that's the case based on my age, 4 miscarriages and failed IVF. FSH does vary from month to month, I don't know why but I know that it does which is why it's advisable to get more than one test, your follicle count will also vary slightly from month to month. 6.5 is a really good result, 13.9 not so great but not terrible and probably about right for your age.

The supplements you've listed are all good, just be aware that for women over 40, ubiquinol is thought to be more effective than coq10, it's the same thing but in a different format. Take the coq10 that you've ordered, it certainly can't do any harm, but when it runs out maybe consider moving to ubiquinol - it's more expensive you you won't need such a high dose. Is it vitamin D3 you've ordered? Stop taking evening primrose oil at ovulation as it can cause slight uterine contractions and so isn't advised for the second half of your cycle when ttc. You probably know all this vitamin information already so huge apologies if that's the case.

I find the fertility friends website to be a fantastic source of information, they have boards for different regions around the world and for each region, threads on different clinics. The women on there are all long term ttc-ers and a fantastic source of information, it's worth spending some time browsing through there to get an idea of clinics. The most popular ones seem to be in Greece, Spain, Cyprus and the Czech Republic. Most clinics will do a skype consultation free of charge so you can get a feel for the clinic without having to travel. Some clinics also work with a coordinator base in the UK who can help you navigate the system although to be honest, I've found dealing with my clinic in Athens to be extremely straight forward. You would then need to be out in whichever country you choose for a period of around 10 days although I have seen some women travel back and forth (more difficult with Greece but fine for Spain and Prague). Also you can have scans and blood tests done in the UK rather than spend the whole 10 days abroad.

Best of luck.

Hi butterfly1, can you ask them to scan to see how many follicles you have? My AMH suggested I have 4/5 follicles per month (which yes, one month was only 2!) but my last cycle I had 8 follicles growing well so it might be that you are having some better months than you might think, please do not give up hope.

Thank you Lyndsey. Clinging onto hope with everything i have! Xx

Syd thank you so much for your detailed reply. I do suscribe to fertility friends but only use the app for temping etc. Never actually checked their forum. I will have a look. Lots to think about xx

I don't have any advice but just wanted to pass on my wishes to you - like others have said you are still in with a chance. Good luck I really hope you end up with your baby x

Thank you Donna. Its all very stressful. 4 weeks till we go on holiday. Hopefully we can relax in the sun have lots of sexy time. Only takes one good egg after all! Good luck on your journey x

I am sorry. However I would advise not to give up. IVF DE costs from EUR 4,900 at overseas clinics. You can check out fertilityfriends or eggdonationfriends (here egg donation clinics ) Two friends of mine cycled in Zlin and Gdansk, and have been happy with treatment they got.
