Well I have been thinking about these and read up on them and the effects they have and think they sound brilliant. Thing is I had it in my head that they were for chewing and would have a massaging type soothing effect but now I read that they are mainly just used for the natural calming stuff not for actually chewing. I just seen rounded beads and had a guess lol! So if you have one would you recommend it and does yours get chewed?

I'd definitely recommend one, we have absolutely no problem with Oliver's teeth - the only symptom that he is teething is usually that he puts his fingers in his mouth now and again. Teeth just seem to pop through with no warning! I took it off at my mum's once to go swimming and forgot to put it back on and left it at my mum's so he went a couple of days without it - the difference in him was amazing, it totally convinced me.
It goes under his vest so 99% of the time he doesn't even realise it's there. When he's naked he'll sometimes try to chew it but because of the length it's difficult to get in his mouth so he usually gives up pretty quickly.

I've seen lots of people rave about them and a handful of people say they do nothing.. so I'd give it a go, anything's worth a try if you think it'll help their pain :) I'd get a recommendation from someone of where they bought theirs from though so you know you're getting real amber and not plastic.

i love connor's!

i thought i'd give it a try as there's no way a placebo affect can work on a baby (although it can work on the parents  ) and i'm all for trying natural alternatives. i was amazed at the difference that it makes in him though - he dribbles soooo much less when he's wearing it. even friends and family notice the difference, so its not just me  i still have to use teething powder and calpol, but the necklace definitely helps.

and he doesn't chew it or play with it, it just sits around his neck :)

where could i get one from, sounds good! we've been coping with cammomilla and the odd bit of gel

DEFINATELY! Evie has worn one since she was around 3/4 months, she has only ever had the necklace and a few sachets of nelson's teething granules for her teeth :cheer:

Who knows what she would have been like without one, but that is a result for me :D

Paradysso sells them on here from her shop fizzymelon or i got mine from a place called myriad toys. Just type amber teething necklace into google, loads of places come up :D

Well so far ours hasn't done a thing! Its also very small and seems too tight on him. From my experience I wouldn't recommend them!

Apart from that I doubt that they actually can work (the sciencey claims about them are certainly bobbins. If anything, there'll be a placebo effect on the parent), I wouldn't want to give a choking/strangulation hazard to my kid.

Erm, they are quite safe! I don't think any of us would willingly give our babies are choking/stragulation hazard. Have you seen one being worn?

DD has worn one for about a year now, and has been brilliant with teething. She wears the necklace 24/7, never seems bothered by it and rarely struggles with teething pain. I like to use natural alternatives where possible and really try to avoid giving anything to help with pain that's not natural or homeopathic.

I got mine from here and can't recommed them highly enough.

as per my post above, i wasn't sure that they would work either. but the difference in connor when he's wearing it is quite remarkable - its the difference between a dry jumper and a jumper saturated with dribble.

its ludicrous to suggest that they are a choking/strangulation hazard - do you honestly think that i would risk my baby in such a way??

I've always wondered about these. I'm going to invest as Erin has been going mad with
her teeth for quite some time xx

I got Esme a bracelet rather than necklace from fizzy melon, which she wears round her ankle.
I loves it and she does seem worse without it

It doesn't sound like you want to continue with them but if you did the necklaces come in lots of different lengths.

I have borrowed DD's  We put it round her ankle twice but it tends to fall off. I have measured her ankle and bought one from Bums N Roses which should fit properly. Her one fits round my wrist twice perfectly. It may be a complete coincidence and I do not for a moment think it is only the amber, I also think it is the physio and crutches but my pelvis has barely been sore for the last few days and I think that is the time that I've been wearing the amber. I can't remember when I took it but I must have been sore or I wouldn't have. This is the first time I have been pain free in well over a year!
