hiya so my dull AF type cramps came back today, it's not painful but it comes and goes like pinching at time. Is this something I should be worried about? by the way I am about 4 weeks pregnant. I called the hospital and they said go to A&E! what a joke really. She than said I should see someone at the early pregnancy unit, seriously I was expecting don't worry it's normal more like. What do you think?

100% normal. I’m still getting hem at just over 6 weeks, but they were bad from 4-5 weeks. Worse in my successful pregnancies than in my miscarriage!

I had the same early on, as long as there is no bleeding you should be fine! :)

thank you , I wish I didn't ask the midwives about this as they scared me for nothing. I am going to step away from googling symptoms and asking the hospital for advice unless it's bad cramping with bleeding. It's just that I can't even believe I am pregnant and feels like something is going to go wrong, I can't wait for my first scan

yes its normal i have them even now, its everything stretching, moving and adjusting x

It's normal, but generally all advice will be to call or visit the EPU at this point - they're all about being "better safe than sorry" and all that Xx

Also I had lots of intense and definitely painful cramps in my healthy pregnancies. I really am surprised they said you should be seen with how typical it is. Plus what would they do besides taking blood to monitor hcg? I’m sure they wouldn’t do a scan at 4 weeks, right? Seriously this is so normal... in fact for me it’s reassuring cause I know things are happening in there.

It’s very normal. Unless you are doubled over, or the pain is very much one sided or you’re bleeding, I wouldn’t say a+e is at all necessary. The majority of women have similar sensations in the early days

I have had period pains and back ache today I'm 8+5 had my scan Monday which was a lovely sprout with heart beat.

Did anyone else get period pains and back ache at same point as I am now. I have 1 daughter and 3 losses I can't remember with my DD XX

Btw I had cramping from conception so I think you are ok cramping at 4 weeks X

Definitely normal. I was constantly worried I was getting my period for the first several weeks because the pain was identical to that, but sounds like everything is perfectly normal with your pregnancy. x

I was also taken by surprise by the constant feeling that af was on her way, which lasted all of tri1. I'd never heard of it as a pregnancy thing, so have actually told several of my non pregnant friends so they know for the future.

Very strange for them to tell you to go to a&e at 4 weeks. Like everyone has said it's normal to cramp, there's a lot going on right now. Try not to worry too much...unless you were in extreme pain, I wouldn't xx

Yeah my doc said that she knew it could course a little pain but after having two kids she was surprised of how painful it is. It's not something that they say textbook I don't think X

Thanks it’s just that I didn’t cramp with my first like this. I am also finding it a lot harder this pregnancy. More tired and more body aches generally. I think being 40 years old and less active doesn’t help.
Thanks you for assuring me that the pains are ok. I am going to try to stay calm and think positive

I had horrid AF cramps from weeks 3-5. Since then I've still gotten cramps but they're much less intense and much less often frequent. I'm 8+6 now.

Also: many women get cramps when AF would normally have been due. So weeks 4, 8 and 12.

I remember with my first I didn't test until I was a week late because I had that "AF will arrive at any moment" feeling. Then with my youngest, I bought tampons instead of pregnancy tests for the same reason!
